"Just let me know your decision by Christmas." She said and exited. The queen wanted you to marry her son and you had 8 days to make your decision.

That was 3 days ago. And you were freaking out. Sure you still loved Calum, you have since you were kids but marrying him? That seemed like such a far fetched idea. The thing that made it even more awkward was that you haven't even seen Calum recently. You knew he was in the palace somewhere because everyday, after you had made your special blueberry scones, Calum's favorite, there would always be one missing. You decided that you probably should talk to him about it considering it concerned him too. It was his marriage after all. So you grabbed two of the scones and headed to the horses. You knew Calum was going to be here, he was always here, tending to the horses or playing with Shilo, the sheepdog. When you arrived Calum was nowhere to be found. And neither was his horse, shadow. If you were to ask Calum why he named his horse shadow, the response would be automatic. "I was 5 when I got her" and if you could recall correctly, when talking to you it would always end in a playful, "shut up (Y/N)." To say you just missed him wouldn't even cut it. He was your best friend. The one you used to turn to in your time of need. The person you thought you would know forever. Little did you know that he thought the same, and felt absolutely terrible about not taking better care of your friendship. "(Y/N)? What are you doing here? Is that a scone." Good to know his priorities were in order. He put the Clydesdale back in her stall and fed her some hay before washing his hands and coming over to you. "Here's your scone, I know you take them every morning doofus, you might want to take a napkin with you next time. " You handed him his scone and he chuckled. "I'm sorry they're just so good. You still make the best scones." He replied. Now was your chance, no matter how awkward it was going to be, you knew you two needed to talk about the elephant in the room. "So your mom talked to me the other day... And your 20th is soon. And you're getting crowned in a few years. And she and your dad want you to get married. And how.." He stopped you, knowing you could ramble forever if you could. "Oh, so you know?" "What?" You were confused. "About Katerina? The girl who I'm gonna marry?" Marry? Calum was going to marry someone? Who was Katerina and why did you suddenly feel like your heart had been ripped to shreds?
