Your dress was tearing on the branches of the woods as you ran as fast as you could with all the layers clung to you. You had reached a fork in the path, and you heard the horses and men that were following you.
You had tripped as you were stuttering on which way to go but pulled yourself up only to be tugged behind a tree with a hand covering your mouth. You began to scream, and someone shushed you quietly. The horses and men soon came after, and you quit your protests.
They split up and went separate ways, and you shoved the hand away from your mouth once they were gone.
"Excuse you!" You piped and wiped the sweat that was forming on your forehead.
"I beg your pardon! I just saved you! I could at least get a thank you!" He argued, and you took in his tall figure that was adorned in riding gear. His loose shirt allowed you to see his chest slightly, and you focused your attention on his horse when he caught you staring.
"What is a young lady like you doing out here anyway?" He asked, and you took a cautious step back away from the handsome stranger.
"The -uh kingdom near by. Just a simple handmaiden..." You lied and whistled as you slowly started to walk away only to have the stranger follow you.
"With those clothes?" He raised his brow, and you cursed yourself as you felt your expensive gown.
"Stole a dress, now they're out for me." You lied, not missing a beat, and the stranger stopped walking when you did. You noticed he had just walked you in a circle.
"I guess I must turn you in then m'lady." He sighed, and your eyes shot open.
"No do not!" You yelled and quickly covered your hand over your mouth.
You heard the thundering of hooves, and you ran behind the tree again and so did the stranger. You were sweating nervously but noticed it wasn't your kingdoms colors nor did the saddles bear your coat of arms.
You glanced over at the stranger who was trying to hide better behind the tree, and you realized he was running too.
Once the men on their horses left you laughed dryly.
"You are running too!" You accused and the stranger shook his head.
"I have no clue what you are talking about." He lied, and you shrugged your shoulders and hiked up your dress to your ankles.
"I suppose you wouldn't mind if I ran to catch up with them then led them here?" You mocked, and he growled.
"Okay! You caught me! I'm running." He admitted, and you released your dress with a triumphant smile.
