"(Y/N) are you busy today?" Ashton asked at the table during breakfast. "I have no lessons today so I'm free Prince Ashton." "That's wonderful. Let's go on a date today?" he says grinning at you. You blushed slightly trying to processes his proposal, "A-Ash...Wait a minute, don't you have work to do today?" you questioned, and he looked away sheepishly. "Prince Ashton, your offer is flattering, but I don't want to get in the way of your work," you say looking away. He rests his hand on his chin and glances at you. "Didn't you tell me to be mindful of my limitations (Y/N)? I suppose you want me to work till I run out of energy don't you?" he says trying to guilt trip you. He grins on your doubtful expression and takes you hand. "Please go on this date with me. You like me don't you (Y/N)? It would be nice to do a small trial once in a while," he flatters. You took another moment to think about his offer and sighed, "I'll get ready after breakfast," you said before taking another bite of your food. Ashton had placed clothes in your room to wear. They weren't made of the usual material or have special designs, the clothes he gave you looked slightly worn out and plain. You took a moment to look at yourself in a mirror and wonder why Ashton made the sudden decision for such plans. You liked to think that this was progress between you two, even if he used such words to trick you into saying yes. You met Ashton at his room, and he was dressed in similar plain clothes. He put his finger to his lips and gestured you to keep quiet. He took your hand, and the two of you exited through the side of the castle avoiding the servants and the guards. "P-Prince?" you called out feeling confused once the two of you left castle grounds. "Yes?" he says looking at you. "Why didn't we just take the carriage into the village?" you asked. "What fun would that be? We would be sitting in a carriage the whole time and wouldn't that be boring? We wouldn't be able to explore anything. Besides, everyone seems to act different when royalty is around, it wouldn't feel right on a date," he explains before stopping in the middle of the village. You took a look at the shops around you and smiled at all the little attractions the villages set up. "This is amazing...I mean, I've visited the village a few times during our visits, but I never really expected to see this since we always road pass everything," you said. "See? You can't experience this while you are in a carriage," he says. Ashton guided you through the village most of the time, he was pretty knowledgeable about the businesses around him. "How do you know so much? Is it your studies?" you asked. "Not really, I used to sneak out of the castle once in a while, and I would visit the village," he says sheepishly. "When you started living at the castle, I didn't really go anymore. That was only because I started my studies and didn't find the time to sneak out," he says. "So the reason you brought me here is for...?" you asked. "I've grown familiar with the kingdom, and I feel like you should too. I don't know what our future holds yet, but if you're going to be my future queen, then knowing your village is a good start," he says not looking at you in the face. You felt a small blush on your cheeks and wanted confirmation of this moment, but Ashton changed the subject and brought you to a small little clothes shop for you to look at. He insisted on buying anything that interested you, even if you refused and told him that you didn't need it, he insisted on buying it. "You're spoiling me Prince Ashton," you pointed out. "Well, it isn't often that you visit the village, it's best to make the most of it, who know's when we'll find another chance to visit again," he says. "Again? You want to do this again?" "If you don't mind. Are you having fun? If not, then maybe there will be no next time," he says. "I'm having a wonderful time Asthon, but why me? You would hear the faded sounds of music from performers or wives singing a tune while hanging up the laundry. Ashton led the way to sneak back into the castle. A servant caught the both of you in the hall, and Ashton told them to keep the secret. He helped you to your room and placed your gifts on the table. "Today was really lovely Prince Ashton, thank you for today," you said politely. "No, thank you (Y/N)." "If it isn't too much trouble, can we do this again?" you asked. "As you wish Princess," he says before wishing you a good night. The next day was a small tea party with you and a few high class girls. As they waited for their significant other to finish their meeting with Ashton, you and the girls talked about gossip or latest fashion. "(Y/N), that is such a lovely dress you are wearing, where did you get it?" one asks. "I got it in the village yesterday, Prince Ashton took me yesterday to explore." You said grinning at the compliments. "It was a date?" "That's what he called it, I think he is opening up to me, he said that if I were to be his queen I need to know the kingdom," you said feeling the blush grow back to your cheeks. "He's so sweet to you," another points out before you you all looked to the side to see the Dukes and other high class men exiting the castle with Ashton. He smiled at you before going back into the castle. "I hope it's more than just kindness," you said before standing up and saying goodbye to your guests.
