When you were young perspective (Early Pre-Teens)

There wasn't anything special to you and your family. You weren't a upper class, you weren't related to royalty, and you weren't a princess, instead, you were a daughter of a baker. When you were young, you dreamed about living in the palace, you dreamed about being a princess and attending balls and even meeting prince charming. For now, you kept that wild fantasy in your head and faced reality. When you went downstairs to start your duty on making freshly baked bread, you found that it was quiet for an early morning. You took a moment to observe your parents who had their heads down respectfully to a a young boy and girl. "(Y/N) bow your head it's the prince and princess," your mother says tilting your head down. "Ah, raise your heads please. My brother and I are here as regular customers, I hope you can cooperate with us today," Mali says smiling. "Of course princess," your mother says smiling nervously. "What do you feel like buying today princess? We don't have much at the moment since it is early, but do take what you like now," your father offers. Mali looks to her younger brother Calum who quietly stood by her closely, she smiles at him and looks back at your parents, "Well there was this loaf that was sweet and marbled, do you have any of that?" she asks. "Oh, my daughter (Y/N) usually makes that. She hasn't started yet. If you don't mind waiting, you can get a fresh batch once it comes out of the oven," your mother says. "That would be lovely, thank you" Mali says before looking at the baskets full of other bread and sweets. You hurried to the kitchen to start baking the first dozen of marbled cake. When you finished mixing all the ingredients, you divided the batter in the tins and placed them in the oven. You heard the door open and saw the prince wander in curiously. "Ah, uhm, you shouldn't be in here Prince...?" "Calum," he introduces and smiles. "Prince Calum, i-if you stay here, you might get dirty, we have a lot of flour here, and it might get on your clothes if you aren't wearing an apron," you said. "It's fine, these are just peasant clothes...Not that there is anything wrong with peasants, I just mean that they are raggy so it's okay! Not that your clothes look raggy," he says and stutters with his words. You smile, "It's okay, I understand. You seem really nervous today Prince Calum," you pointed out. "To be honest, Mali and I aren't supposed to be out here, we snucked out of the palace, Mali's idea. She's done it a few times too, and this time she offered me to come with her" he says. "You've never been outside the palace?" "My parents say it's too dangerous," he says with a sheepish smile, "do you mind showing me around (Y/N)?" he asks. "R-Right now? What about your sister- I mean the princess?" "She kinda ditched me half way through waiting which is why I came to ask you" Calum says slightly blushing. You smiled and looked back at the oven then back at him. "Okay," you said smiling. Before you left, you told your father about the bread in the oven. He agreed to watch it as he started to make the bake the bread rolls. You and Claum headed into the center of town where there were more small shops to look at. Even though you've seen it a thousand times, the moment felt like magic to Calum. He was curious with everything in the village. He was curious about some of the small food stands and the entertainment, he was even surprised by the group of villagers singing and receiving money from those who listened. "I can see why Mali always snuck out, this is amazing," he says before sitting down near the water fountain in the center of the town. You sat next to him slightly confused, "But you're the prince, you live in that big castle that everyone dreams about living in." "Trust me (Y/N), it is big, but it's super lonely," he mumbles and kicks a pebble, "the village is lively, and I like it, and hanging with you is great too, I want to enjoy this before I have to learn these stupid responsibilities," he says. "Prince-" "Please, just call me Calum. If the guards here hear you call me prince, I'll be in big trouble," he says gesturing to the roaming guards and giving you a grin. You lowered your voice shyly, "Calum, I'm sorry you have all these responsibilities, and I'm glad you can be normal when you visit the village. You are different from how I expected you to be, in a good way of course. Thank you for the wonderful time," you said standing up. "No, I had a wonderful time, thank you for showing me around," he says standing up and fixing his disguise slightly. The two of you headed back just in time for Mali to pick up the order. She thanked your family and paid generously before leaving with Calum. You couldn't figure out how to tell Calum you would want to see him again, but then you thought that it was impossible since he was royalty and you were a peasant. He turned to you and waved, "I'll see you again tomorrow," he called out, and you stood there trying to process his words. That night you thought about if Prince Claum really meant to visit you again. The next morning you woke up to a sound coming from your window. You saw small pebbles being tossed and hitting your window lightly. You got up out of bed to peer down to see Calum in his peasant clothes again smiling at you eagerly to explore the kingdom again.
