"(Y/N)..." Calum calls out again. You look back at him and realize that you sifted too much flour and made a mess. You cough slightly at the flour in the air and looked to see Calum's face now slightly powdered in white. "Sorry about that," you said sheepishly. Calum pouted and dusted his face off, and you found your eyes drifting to the side again to the new baker that started working and helping out your family. "Ahem," Calum says interrupting your thoughts again. "Y-Yeah? What?" you wondered. "Marbled cake," he says pouting again. "Oh right..." you said looking down at the mess you've made in the bowl, "it's okay, we can work with this," you said continuing with your baking. Once it was in the oven, you continued to swoon over the new baker filling the baskets with bread and serving the customers. "How long is he working here?" Calum asked. "Hmmm? I guess forever," you said mindlessly. "How long is a job? It can't be forever," he says, and you looked at him arching your eyebrows. "Do you know how a job works? You literally have your job forever, unless something comes up then your job ends. Just like being a king or in your case a prince," you said continuing to admire the view. "Having a job sucks," he says. "Tell me about it," you grinned. The baker walked up to you, and you tried to straighten yourself out. "Uh, do you smell something burning?" he asks. "What?" "(Y/N)!" Calum calls from the kitchen, and you hurry inside to get the now charred marble cake out of the oven. "Oh come on," Calum says bitterly. "Sorry about that Calum..." you said before tossing the failed cake in the trash. "Do you want me to make the cakes? Are you feeling okay (Y/N)? If not, I can take your shift for today," the baker asks smiling at you. You felt yourself blush slightly and grow flustered, "Y-you sure about that? Is that really okay?" "It's no problem." "It is a problem. I only like eating marbled cakes when (Y/N) makes them," Calum adds with a slightly ticked expression on his face. "O-oh?" the baker says feeling a bit intimidated. "What? Oh come on Calum, cake is cake, you won't be able to tell the difference," you insisted, and he stubbornly pouts. "Well, I'll try my best to make the cakes, it will take a while," the baker says. "That's fine, I'll watch-" you said before being dragged by Calum who demanded to roam around town because he felt stuffy. "You're acting way too weird today," you pointed out. "I'm not being weird, you are. You've been drooling all day," he says. "I have...I have not been drooling!" you said wiping your mouth to check if you were. "I think your bakery would be fine without him," Calum says. "There is nothing wrong with some extra help Calum, besides, my dad's wrists need a little rest, and I cant kneed all the dough to make our breads, so it's good that he's helping," you said, and Calum stopped walking. "Maybe I should help then!" he declares. "What?" "I hang around your bakery a lot. I think whatever he can do, I can do better," he says, and you tried to contain your laughter. "(Y/N), teach me," he says tugging your arm. "Okay, only because I'm curious to how this will turn out," you said walking back with him to the bakery. It was fun watching Calum mess up once in a while, but you couldn't help but wonder why he kept rivaling against the new baker. For a moment, you thought it was because he was jealous, but why would Calum be jealous over a baker? Over you? He was the prince, he could have anything he wanted, his status toppled over the both of you, he had no reason to be jealous. "Excuse me, (Y/N), the marbled cakes have cooled," the baker says and gives you a few slices to try. "This is amazing," you said eating the first slice. You held one out to Calum. "Here, your marbled cake, don't you want to eat?" you asked. Calum clenched his jaw and turned down the offer. "Teach me how to make it," he said. "It's a little difficult. It requires you to make two batters Calum," you said continuing to eat. "Just teach it," he demanded, and you flinched at his order. You gave in and tried your best to explain to him how to make the cake, but the batters just weren't right. It was either too loose, or too thick, and when it baked, it just didn't seem right. "Calum, it's really okay, it isn't your job to bake anyway," you said discarding the failed cake and offering him the already sliced loafs that the baker already made. He still refused to eat and out of frustration knocked the small plate out of your hand. Startled by the noise he gave you a guilty expression, and you sighed picking up the pieces. The baker came in and helped you with the mess. You accidentally nicked your finger, and he took a closer look feeling a bit concerned. Calum excused himself, and you let him blow off some steam. "Your friend is a bit destructive," the baker says and tosses the broken plate into the trash. "I don't mean to be rude though," he says sheepishly. "He isn't usually like this, sorry that he was rivaling with you, I don't see why he has to be worked up," you said drawing circles on the table top. "Well, that's how guys act with the girl they like," he says. "...What? Oh no, Calum doesn't like me. There is no way he would like me," you said getting a bit flustered. "Are you sure? There is no way he would go through all the trouble begging you to teach him how to bake if he didn't like you," he says. "I mean, I was pretty worked up when my girlfriend had a new co-worker, and I applied for the same job trying to top him at everything." "Girlfriend?...Hmm, lucky you," you said before helping him clean up and checking outside to see if Calum was still sulking. You gave him some bread and cheese to munch on, and you sat with him on the bench that was placed outside the bakery. "Tell me, why are you so worked up over the new baker?" you asked. "I don't know, do my actions really need an explanation?" he asks, and you chuckle. You lean against him and snack on some bread in the bread basket as well. "You know what? He has a girlfriend. What a bummer," you said rolling your eyes and chuckling. You saw a small grin on Calum's face, and his head rested against you back, you felt a bit stiff by his actions, wondering if you should move or not. It was too late, you couldn't just move away from him. The two of you stayed like that until he had to leave again.
