P/N - Princess's Name
D/N - Duchesses Name
Punishment between knights involves a lot of yelling and rough housing to prove a point. A punishment for a lady is settled with yelling and no one can lay a finger on her or strike her. You played both roles, but today you were a knight, took a slap to the face from your father who was called out to hear this news. "Where is your honor (Y/N)?" he questioned. You were silent and tried to process the stinging feeling on your face. "What is this affair? Answer me. You know the Prince has a fiance yes? The Prince and Princess were both entrusted to you, and you destroyed that trust the moment you were caught. I feel shamed, this... You are my legacy, and you have tarnished it, for what? Love? You ruined this legacy because of love?" he questioned, and every word that came out of your father's mouth hurt more than any slap to the face. The royal family was silent. Luke was in no position to speak. In this situation, you were the one at fault, royalty had immunity, Luke did nothing wrong, you were the one who was wrong. "How long?" King Any asked when you refused to answer your own father. "How long what your majesty?" you asked. "This affair, how long has this affair been going on?" "In all honesty, we just confessed today, my king, so this affair never even existed," you answered. "Lies!" the Princess said with angry tears in her eyes. "How long have you loved him?" she demanded. "..." "(Y/N) answer the Princess's questions," King Andy said. "I guess...When he told me to win...When he wanted me to win that test to serve by his side...We were 13 when I fell for him," you admitted, and you averted your eyes from the royal family. "6 years you have held feelings for him?! This should count as an affair! She should be stripped from her social standing!" (P/N) demanded and started to cry. Judging by how everything looked, you were the bad guy, and you didn't even try to fight to save yourself, you were going to give up. "No, I don't want this, (Y/N) didn't do anything wrong," Luke said speaking up for you. "If she loved me for 6 years, then I loved her just as long...You can't just do this," Luke says with hurt in his eyes. "Son, she broke a code, an oath that every knight takes before entering service. Her crimes cannot be pushed aside," Queen Liz explains. "But-" "Prince Luke," you interrupted. "You have been so kind to me, and please, let me repay your kindness with just resolving this problem that has been caused. It's okay," you said smiling sadly and faced the King, Queen, your father, and your captain. They confiscated your sword, they took away your armor, they withdrew your title, and by order of the King and Queen, you were no longer allowed to step foot in this castle to enter knighthood ever again. With your possessions gone, with you stripped from your title, what did that leave you to be? "Thank you for your mercy. I'll take my leave," you said lowering your head and heading toward the exit. Luke took a step and tried to chase after you but was blocked by the guards. Luke was beating himself up over the fact that he didn't fight for you. The only thing he did fight for was your sword that he saw you claim that day the both of you snuck out of the castle. "You are always saving me," he says with tears forming in his eyes. "I'm supposed to be a man, the next king, and yet I am so fragile?" he said to himself before brushing his fingers against the cold steel of the sword. You were at home helping your mother with making dinner, participating in your duties as a lady. When your father came home, he didn't look or speak to you. He ate his dinner in a different room and ignored you when you told him goodnight. When you reached your bed, the heartache started to sink in. The pain was unbearable, and the tears started to fall down your cheeks. You wanted to be with him, but you knew that it was too late and not meant to be. Your mother entered your room and comforted you. "Mom, you were right about everything," you said with your voice cracking. "I regret being so blunt with you... The truth hurts, but heartache hurts just as much..." "I want to be with him," you admitted again and again, only because you were finally free to confess these suppressed feelings. "I bet he does too..." you mother said with her voice fading and her hands pushing your hair back to comfort you and stop you from crying too much... As of lately, Luke has been learning swordsmanship from your father who was his new guard. Your father understood that Luke was experiencing the same heartbreak, but he had no right to comfort him; he was the one who help break the two of you apart, and he knew that he was the last person Luke would want to talk to about that day. Luke stopped and tried to catch his breath. "How did (Y/N) manage to carry this with her everyday?" he asked, and your father was hesitant to answer. "She was strong, I trained her to be strong... I... I raised her as if she was the son I never had," he admitted, and Luke fell silent allowing your father to rant and apologize. "If I never raised her to be this way, then... then she would have known how to handle these feelings. How to handle falling in love and being loved. I denied her of being a lady, and for that, I left a conflict within her..." he said with a guilty expression. "I don't think (Y/N) regrets you raising her like that, she is proud of her strength, I admire her strength, I fell for her because she was strong..." Luke admitted and had a sad expression on his face. "My daughter... She loves you, she's been crying over you... I want her to be happy but..." he says. "I know... I want to make her happy too...I'll figure out a way," Luke said before being interrupted by (P/N) calling him from afar... On another day, Luke took it upon himself to train in the morning like how he usually would with you. He would practice his basic swordsmanship over and over till he could not hold the sword up anymore. The princess tried keeping him company every morning but would get bored easily and convince him to stop training and do something else. Luke didn't mean to be rude, but he would dismiss her offer and tell her to just go without him. "It's about (Y/N) right?... Prince Luke, this isn't fair... I am your fiance, you are supposed to look at me. I... I love you," She confessed and started to tear up again. Luke stopped and at her straight in the eyes, "And I love (Y/N)... I'm sorry but... I can't accept these feelings..." he says before turning away. "I'll tell your family, I'll tell the King and Queen," she threatened, and Luke didn't respond. Let her complain to them, what did Luke have to lose. That afternoon he was being scolded again, but every word and lecture they gave him went in one ear and out the other. "Luke, are you listening?" King Andy asks. "No..." Luke said bluntly. "What is with you? What happened to my sweet son?" Queen Liz questioned with a concerned expression on her face. "This is not how a future king acts Luke," King Andy says. "Then maybe I shouldn't take the throne..." Luke said bluntly again. "Don't joke about this... Don't drive my patience," the King says in a serious tone. "Yeah, that's it... I don't want to take the thrown. I don't want to get married. I don't want any of this..." Luke says slowly backing out of room. His parents called for him, the princess called for him, but Luke just let those calls pass through him. He wasn't going to be that fragile prince that let things get decided for him, he was done, he needed to change, and he needed you to see that. "Take me to your home," Luke demanded from your father. "Prince Luke, don't do this, please just-" "I wasn't asking, I'm demanding... I want to see (Y/N)," Luke said, and your father led the way.
