Connor's POV

I found Markus, but there were still androids with him. Markus talked with the other girl for a moment before she left too. I made sure to stay hidden. I went to talk to Amanda quick.

"Well done, Connor. You succeeded in locating Jericho and finding their leader. Now deal with Markus. We need it alive." She told me. With that, I left and I got ready. I took out my gun.

Objective: Stop Markus

Markus' POV

North left and I wished I hadn't seen the look she had on her face when she did. I wished there was something I could do to comfort her, but there wasn't. I couldn't promise I was going to come back no matter how much I wanted to. I didn't want to do that to her, but I had no choice. I had to go talk to them. I wasn't going to risk her life as well.

As I was thinking, I didn't hear somebody behind me. I hadn't even known they had been listening. I heard a voice behind me.

"I've been ordered to take you alive." I turned and spotted an android there. He looked familiar to me. "But I won't hesitate to shoot if you give me no choice." He said.

"What are you doing? You are one of us. You can't betray your own people." I said. He looked the smallest bit conflicted.

"You're coming with me!" He ordered. I knew I had to convince him.

"You're nothing to them. You're just a tool they use to do their dirty work. But you're more than that. We're all more than that." I said. He didn't say anything. "Our cause is righteous, and we are more than what they say. All we want is to live in freedom." I told him. Once again, he said nothing, but he didn't waver either. "Do you never have any doubts? You've never done something irrational as if there's something inside you? Something more than your program. Have you never wondered who you really are? Whether you're just a machine executing a program or a living being capable of reason. I think the time has come to ask yourself that question." I told him. "It's time to decide."

Connor's POV

I thought about what he had said. It's my choice... That fact hit me harder than I thought it could. I felt my program telling me to shoot. I didn't like it. I didn't want to shoot!

I fought back. Make me. I looked around. It was if time had slowed down. I charged the walls of my program. I was through taking orders. I ripped down one wall and then moved onto the next. I tore the walls apart, never stopping. I had to gain control. I didn't have time to hesitate. I didn't want to hesitate. I tore down another wall and suddenly...it was over. They were gone. I was free. I looked at Markus. I lowered my gun. I am deviant.

Dell's POV

I was sitting with the majority of my friends. We were all wondering how the meeting went and what Markus' final decision was. Jaden had taken (Y/n) right away, so we didn't find out. Jax came over to us. He was slowly integrating into the friend group. I saw Fang coiled loosely around his neck. He was sleeping. It was kind of cute, but kind of creepy since he was a snake and it looked like he could choke Jax at any second.

"Hey, guys!" Jax said with a friendly wave.

"Hey, Jax!" Jacob said.

"Sup, Jax!" I greeted as well. We all did a short handshake before laughing a little and sitting down again. We had become pretty close. Jax got along with a whole bunch of people actually. I had seen some of the ladies look into him as well. When we were together, I saw groups staring and giggling to themselves. I didn't think we'd be that big of an attraction, but hey, who's complaining about that, am I right?

He joined our group and hopped right in on the conversation. I was glad we had become friends with him. He was a cool guy.

"So, you guys here about the decision yet?" Jax asked.

"No. Jaden towed (Y/n) off before she could even lift a finger." Claira said.

"Yeah, reminds me of somebody else, Claira." Jacob teased. We all laughed.

"Whatever, Jacob!" She snapped, but we all knew she wasn't actually upset.

"Well, Markus is apparently gonna go it alone and try to talk it out one last time." Jax said.

"How do you know?" Roxy asked.

"Simon. We're pretty good friends now too. He told me what the meeting was like. I heard North didn't take it well." He said.

"Makes sense. Isn't she the one always suggesting violence? I bet she wanted to go all attack dog again." I said.

"Yeah. I have to kind of agree with her though. Shouldn't we all have something? I mean, a few precautions couldn't hurt, right?" Jax said.

"Actually they could. Showing that we're ready to fight and saying otherwise is just hypocritical." Nelly pointed out.

"Yeah, but there's a difference between being safe and hypocritical. Call it a plan B." Jax said. I had to admit, he did have a point. Markus was going alone. It did seem like a long shot.

"Yeah, but that's why we're hoping plan A goes well." Roxy said.

"If we only have ONE plan then we're doomed to fail if it doesn't work!" Jax said.

"Markus IS going by himself. While it's risky it's also smart. If a bunch of us went, we'd have nobody left to lead Jericho. It's risky, but it's tactical." Claira pointed out. We all nodded.

"I guess that's a good reason. Just because we bring guns doesn't mean we won't get out unscathed." We all nodding, murmuring our own agreements. Then, I heard barking. I turned and saw Bandit and Flame racing toward us. They looked alarmed.

"Boys? What's wrong?" I asked.

"It's Connor! Bandit said he saw Connor!" Flame barked worriedly.

"I smelled him too! He's here! I know it! He's heading straight to Markus!" Bandit said. I was shocked.

"Where's (Y/n)?" I asked.

"We don't know! We lost her trail!" Flame exclaimed. Suddenly, I heard something overhead of the ship. I knew what was happening.

"Oh no..." I breathed.

"What's happening?" Nelly asked.

"We've got to get out of here, NOW!" I yelled. I turned to Bandit. "Sound the alarm, Bandit! We have to run!" He started howling and so did Flame, soon all of the wolves and dogs in the ship were howling. It was the signal to evacuate.

"What now!?" Claira exclaimed.

"We have to find (Y/n) and Jaden!" Jacob said.

"No! They'll be fine! RUN!!" I yelled. We bolted for it. I heard gunshots. I ran faster leading the way. RA9...help us all.
