It all happened too quickly. It went from bad to worse before I could proceed the entire situation. One minute we're arguing and the next I'm running outside, late at night, in below freezing temperatures. I had zoned out but found myself at Calum's door. I started pounding my fists on the front door and didn't stop until Calum answered, confusion written all over his face. But before he could get a word in, I started sobbing.

"We were arguing and, and I, he hit me. I ran all the way here and I, I don't know-" before I could finish my rambling, Calum wrapped his arms around me. His hot skin instantly warming up my body.

"You're freezing, Y/N. Come inside and lets get you warmed up, yeah?" He said in a hushed tone and helped me inside of his house.

I went inside and Calum followed me into the bathroom and examined my bruised eye. I could see the anger in his eyes but I didn't say anything about it. "Take a shower," he hummed, "and I'll just be downstairs, ok?"

I shook my head and waited for him to leave before I started stripping my clothes off. I stepped into the shower and was greeted with the nice warmth of the water beading off my freezing skin. There was a knock on the door and Calum shouted over the water, "I've got some clean clothes and towels. I'm leaving them on the counter."

"Thank you," I mumbled more to myself.

Knowing that he didn't hear me, I zoned out again and replayed the entire situation again.

"I heard something about you today," my boyfriend, Allen, sneered.

"What was that?" I didn't bother to look up at him. I was studying for my exams and didn't have time for another one of his games.

He angrily spun my chair around so I could look at him, my eyes wide from the sudden movement. "I heard that you and that Calum guy have been fucking behind my back."

I frowned and looked at Allen with annoyance, "How many times do I have to tell you that Calum is my best friend. Nothing like that has ever happened."

Allen grabbed my arm with a firm grip and shoved my back against the wall and whispered in my ear, "You're going to regret being unfaithful to me."

I yelled, "I've never been unfaithful to you. You must have me mistaken for one of your mistresses. I know all about your infidelities. Your co-worker, your assistant, your boss, and even the lady neighbor. If anybody is unfaithful in this relationship, it's you."

It was still and quiet between us for a few good seconds. You could hear a pin drop. Before I knew it, I felt his fist hit my face and I was on the floor. I looked up at him in disbelief.

"I'm, oh my god, Y/N. I'm...are you ok?" Allen gulped. I didn't answer him, I just got up and ran out of the house and found myself at Calum's doorstep.

I shook the memory from my brain and turned the water off. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped my body and hair in the towels that Calum left for me. I got dressed in the clothes that happened to be a pair of his sweatpants and plain white t-shirts. His clothes hung loose on my body but they were always comfortable to wear.

I walked downstairs and saw Calum sitting on the couch, patiently waiting for me. He was playing with his hands and his eyes never left them. He was thinking about something.
