The Runaways
Chapter 39
Thief
--- October 22, 1699 ---
We were stopped at an English island, the ship was pretty damaged and wasn't really in sailing condition.
"England!" I called out as I ran towards him, waving a sword I found on the shore. "What is it?" He asked.
"Dude, just look at my hands, I carrying a sword." I sighed, but waved it menicingly.
"Where'd you get it?" His eyes lit up as I handed it to him to show off.
"On the shore, I guess some wanker lost it." I shrugged.
"Don't say that." He commanded. I blinked as he explained, "it's not very lady-like." He frowned. My eyes widened slightly, "you know?" I asked. He rolled his eyes and handed me back my sword, "Yes. And for a while." He replied.
He began walking and I followed beside him as we passed so many of our drunk comrades by the pier.
"Since when?" I asked. He only shrugged, "I think since I over heard you talking to that Osiris fellow a long while ago, but I might just be imagining that."
I nodded slightly as I gripped my sword, "well, that's one truth you know about the real me."
"Then tell me another one." He responded.
"Well..." I looked around, "I'm from the future actually." He began laughing, thinking it was a joke.
"Right." He said.
"No, really! And I can prove it!" I smiled and began, "In the future, you will be friends with so many countries, more or less! And one of them will include past me. That means that when we meet again, I won't remember you like you would want me to."
He squinted as we entered a small pub. "I don't think I understand what you're saying." He said as he let me enter first.
"It's sort of complicated but you will understand when you're older." I said with a half smile.
"When I'm older?" He asked. I nodded, causing him to ask, "When I'm older, you'll be dead. I'm sure of it because everyone I have ever known and will know will all die." He frowned slightly as I made an attempt to reassure him, "No, like, I get that I'm human, that I'm different, but trust me. The me in the future will be me!" I smiled.
He was awfully confused but I guess that's understandable since he doesn't really know what he's getting himself into here.
"Okay then, future girl. Say I believe you, then tell me something that I should know that is sure to happen soon." He smirked as we sat down on the chairs near the counter, "Alright then. Your future kid brother's name will be America, and you will definitely name him after me, well, Alfred F. Jones that is." I laughed as he raised a brow.
"How do you know that?" He asked.
My smile felt weak so I stopped for the time being, "Because if I die soon, you're going to be somewhat sad, and you're going to name your kid brother after me so that you never forget!"
"And what makes you think you're going to die?" He asked.
"I guess I don't really know, but it's sort of a given. Trust me, I've read enough stories to know where this will be headed." He ordered two drinks then turned towards me. "Oh, come on. Say this is a story, then you are the main character. The main character never dies." He said.
Yes, the main character never dies.
*cough* Hussie *cough*
I shook my head and drank some of whatever it was he ordered, of course, it's tea.
