Chapter 39 - Overwatch and the Arsonist

Meanwhile, back in 2068, in an abandoned, burned building complex in the heart of the near-ghost town of Prague, two entities are seen standing at the entrance of the building. One of them wore a fire-resistant suit and  the other wore a hooded reconissance suit. As they slowly enters the complex, the one in front casually walks in, while the one following behind enters with more of a cautious stance. They stick close to each other while inside the burned complex. Everything was charred and covered with ashes of burned down furniture.

???: *looking around while still following* "So, Firebreak, tell me again why we are here?"

Firebreak: "I told you not to worry about it, Outrider."

Outrider: "Fuck sakes..."

They both head up some stairs that were still surprisingly sturdy. They walk down a hallway, and Firebreak stops in front of a room, while Outrider takes a look around. Firebreak enters the room and looks around, then sees a burned doll and picks it up, attaching it to his utility belt. Outrider then rendevous with Firebreak just outside the room.

Outrider: "What are we even doing here? We're not going to find that damn robot in this place."

Firebreak: "Im just here to... pay my respects. You didnt have to come."

Outrider: "Someone has to watch your ass to make sure you dont burn anything to the ground."

Firebreak: "Very funny... *they both hear a distortion noise* wait, do you hear that?"

Outrider: I think so, but what was it?"

They both slowly but cautiously head to the cause of the noise. Outrider readies her hunting bow, which she dubs the Sparrow, while Firebreak attaches a nitrogen-filled canister to his customized flamethrower he called the Purifier. They come to an isolated room, and when they look inside, they see what what looks to be a distorted crack in space. Whatever it was, it was beyond explanation.

Firebreak: "What is it?"

Outrider: "I dont know, but im informing Prophet."

As Outrider steps away to contact Prophet, Firebreak gets slightly closer to the anomoly currently present in front of him. But as he got closer, the anomoly got more reactive, until it grew in form and the sounds it was emitting became louder.

Outrider: "SHIT, GET AWAY FROM IT!"

But it was too late. Whatever it was, it lit up and "pulled" both specialists into it. Soon, it disappeared from existence. Everything was white for both Outrider and Firebreak, until eventually they found themselves floating in a white vast emptiness of space.
