I wake up the next morning as my alarm went off. I saw Tyler's sleeping face and everything felt right until I realized we were in a hospital, and I had a boyfriend who was not him. I sat up and saw there were multiple calls from Kyle. I grabbed my phone before I walked out of the room and called him back.

"Hey, what's up?" I ask

"We were going on a run this morning. You missed it. Where are you? I knocked on the door and Cassidy said you weren't there." He explains

"Oh, um, I was with Tyler." I say before I realize how bad that sounds, "He's in the hospital, and he didn't want Cassidy to see him like he is, and his parents are on the way down. So I offered to spend the night with him." I say quickly

"Jesus fucking Christ Susannah. He's a grown man. He doesn't need you coddling him." He sounds pissed off, "Are you still into him? Is he only being nice to me because he's fucking my girlfriend?"

"No. Kyle, we're not doing that. Can we talk after my class? I'm coming back to campus for class. I have a break at 11- 1." I say

"Yeah whatever. I'll be in my room." He hangs up. I go back in and see Tyler waking up.

"Hey." I smile and he smiles at me as well, "I have to go to school. I'll come back tonight though." I say

"Great. I'll see you." He says before I leave. I drive to school and park in the lot near the hall. After my two classes, I drive back to my dorm and park the car. I go up to Kyle's room and knock on the door softly.

"Hey." I say as I walk in.

"Hey." He grumbles and I roll my eyes. We sit down on the couch and I look at him

"I'm not into him anymore. He's part of my family. I just wanted to stay with him."

"Susannah. He's so into you. Like it's so fucking obvious. I don't trust him being alone with you. That's why I don't want you being around him."

"He's not going to do anything. There are plenty of nurses and doctors. If you want to come to make sure he won't pull anything you can. I just need to be there for him. When I was in the hospital, he visited me everyday for hours. I feel like I need to be there for him too." I say

"Okay." He shrugs, "I think he's a dick, but whatever, you know him better than I do. What's he in the hospital for?"

"I can't say." I mumble looking down, "Um, he's just really sick. He won't play for at least a month."

"Oh. Injury?"

"Sure."

"Are they not going to release it?"

"No." I shake my head, "He's on a break for personal reasons."

"Alright. Is there anything I can do?" He asks

"No. I think it'd be best if you didn't come. I don't think he wants people knowing he's in the hospital."

"I won't say anything."

"Thank you."

"I hate fighting." He groans as he lays down and puts his head in my lap. I laugh as I play with his hair

"Me too. Trust me, I won't do anything with Tyler. His parents are going to be here today. He can't do anything." I say as I lean down to kiss his forehead

"Okay." He sighs

"How did your practice go yesterday?" I ask as I play with his hair

"Amazing. I played incredible." He laughs happily
