Chapter 63

Susannah's POV

The days leading up to the draft were great.

"I'll see you there later. I'm going over with Tyler and Jamie for a bit. I love you." I smile as I hug Kyle as he got ready in his room where I was hanging out while he got ready.

"I love you too. I'll see you in a bit." He kisses me before I go down and see Jamie waiting for me in his car.

"Hi." I smile as I get in.

"Hi Sus." He laughs

"How was Florida?" I ask curiously

"Good. Jordie stole my thunder." He laughs a little

"Whatever. You're not going to get married back to back."

"I know." He laughs smiling, "How's Kyle?"

"Good, nervous." I say smiling

"So, you really think you'll marry him?"

"At this time, yes." I nod and sigh

"Are you sure?" He asks

"It's just a promise ring. It's not that real Jamie." I say as we get to Tyler's apartment.

"Whatever. Have you talked to Tyler about it?"

"Why do I need to talk to him?"

"You still love him." He shrugs as he parks

"He has a girlfriend. I'm fine." I sigh as we go inside. We knock on his door and he opens it up.

"Hello." He laughs as we hug

"Where's Mia?" Jamie asks as we get inside. I take off my stilettos and drop my purse before I go and grab a White Claw.

"She's not coming. She really doesn't care about ice hockey. Fake Canadian."

"Well, Canada's national field hockey team is playing tonight." I say shrugging, "She's probably watching that."

"Why aren't you?" Tyler asks

"Because my boyfriend is being drafted." I laugh

"Your pre-fiance?" He teases and I roll my eyes

"Yes." I smile

"Good." He nods as we take two shots together before we watch the previews.

"Does Kyle know where he's going?" Jamie asks me and I nod

"Islanders most likely."

"That sucks. That's really far away." Tyler says and I agree as I take a drink. We pregame for a while before my alarm goes off.

"I'm taking the Uber to the arena. I'll see you both later. Love you both." I giggle tipsy as I hug them before I go down and into the Uber I had preordered. I go to the arena and show my badge to get to Kyle and his family.

"Susannah!" Ashley laughs as we hug and we walk over.

"Hey." He smiles as he kisses me and I sigh as I hug him tightly, "How drunk are you?" He asks into my ear

"Just a little." I smile as he pulls away and I hug his parents and brothers. The ceremony officially starts and we all sit down. The first five picks go by and it was the Islanders' turn. I was so nervous, and obviously so was Kyle. His leg was shaking as he rubbed my hand freaking out.

"With the sixth pick, the New York Islanders select Kyle Smith."

"You did it!" I squeal as I jump up and he laughs as he looks up at me shaking his head. He slowly stands up before he hugs me tightly before hugging the rest of his family and goes up to the podium.
