Susannah's POV
"So what are you doing right now?" I get a text from Tyler as I walk to my dorm from the fields on one of the last days before school starts.
"About to go to Jamie's." I reply as I drop my bag off in my dorm before I get in the car and drive off.
"Since I'm back so early, and no one else is, can we please do something? I'm so bored." He texts me back
"Yeah. Let me take a shower, and then I'll meet you at your place." I say
"Sounds good." He replies. I take a shower in my room at Jamie's house before I drive over.
"Hi baby!" I squeal as Gerry jumps up on me as I walk in.
"Sus?" Tyler yells out
"Yes." I reply laughing as I pick Gerry up and kiss his head softly as I hold him.
"Good. I was scared a murderer was in the house."
"No. Just me." I laugh happily
"When is Jamie coming back?" He asks as we walk into the house more and I set Gerry down.
"Tonight. He's helping Clarissa move everything into their house."
"Oh yeah. Since they live together now."
"They're also engaged."
"Well yeah. They're not planning on getting married soon though, right?"
"No. Not until she graduates. I think they just want to relax and all that."
"Oh yeah." He nods
"So, what are you thinking of doing?" I ask
"I just want to watch some TV, take the dogs for a walk." He shrugs
"Alright." I laugh as we catch up just talking about life in general before we have to go get Cassidy from the airport.
"Hi babe!" She squeals as we hug tightly laughing as we hold one another.
"Alright, let's go ladies." Tyler sighs and we get into the car. We go to his house before Cassidy and I take the dogs for a walk.
"So, what are you thinking about?" Cassidy asks me
"About how dumb I am." I sigh
"Oh come on."
"No. I'm serious."
"Why?"
"I had a great relationship. A perfect one actually. I was just scared it was going to fast, so I got in a different one and- we both know how that turned out."
"You couldn't have known."
"No. But I want Tyler." I laugh softly
"Well, go after it then."
"I don't know. I just want him to be happy."
"I want you to be happy as well."
"Thanks Cass." I laugh a bit
"Come on. Let's go back to the house, and I'll give you two some alone time."
"No." I groan laughing as we head back
"Just feel the situation out. See how you're feeling. See how he's feeling. Just do it."
"I hate you."
"I know." She smiles as we get back into the house where Tyler is playing video games with Jamie.
"We decided to come early. Clarissa is in the bathroom." Jamie says without looking up as we walk in.
"Clarissa!" I smile as I hug her and she laughs
"Hey." She smiles
"I- can we talk Ty?" Cassidy asks
"Give me ten minutes."
"Now." She says
"I'll play for you." Clarissa laughs
"She's actually good." Jamie shakes his head smiling
"Fine." Tyler hands off the remote and they go outside. I watch them nervously to see what Cassidy is saying.
Tyler's POV
"Why are we out here right now? We could have talked all day." I start off
"What do you think about Susannah? Are you still interested?" She asks
"What? Where is that coming from?"
"The little glances you give her. You're still into her."
"Yeah. I think I always will be. She clearly doesn't want me."
"I think you're wrong. She's so into you again."
"Yeah. I was the second best. I'm always going to be second best, and there's nothing I can do about that."
"It was just wrong timing. I think you both want the same thing, and you're so amazing together."
"Whatever. Can I go back inside?"
"Yeah. Just don't tell her about this conversation."
"Done." I laugh as we go inside
"You good?" Jamie asks
"Yeah. Our mom wanted us to call her, but she was busy." I lie
"Oh." He nods laughing as Clarissa scores on him
"Holy fuck, she is better than you." I laugh
"I was distracted!" Jamie groans
"Still counts." Clarissa smiles as the scores was 4-1, and was 1-1 when I left.
"Does the team know you two are engaged?" Susannah asks as she sits on the couch next to Clarissa. Susannah. She looked gorgeous tonight. Maybe I was still super into her, and this could potentially restart our relationship.
"No. Neither of us really announced it." Clarissa shrugs
"We're private people." Jamie continues
"I know that." I laugh
"Thanks for stating the obvious." Jamie smiles
"You're welcome." I laugh
We all hang out for a while before Susannah, Jamie, and Clarissa go back to their house.
"Are you going to ask her out?" Cassidy asks me
"Who?" I ask
"You're so dumb. Susannah."
"Um, I think it's going to have to feel right. We both risked a lot last time and it turned out the way it did. I just want to know everything will work out."
"You're never going to know that, I think you should just take the risk."
"Thanks Cass." I laugh shaking my head at her
"Whatever." She rolls her eyes and walks up to her room. I put the dogs away before I go up to my room and sigh as I lay in my bed before I get a text from Susannah.
"Hey. We should talk sometime." She says and I laugh a little
"Yeah. We should. Let me know when you're free." I send back content with my response. She likes the message before she stops texting.
