The rumours spread across the school like wildfire. I couldn't walk into a room without every person whispering. I imagine Draco was in a similar situation. In some aspects the Wizarding world mirrored the Muggle world, most people were supportive of gay people but a small few had irrational hate towards them.
Little did they know I have been called every single gay slur under the sun. Dudley never let me forget it. Eventually he stopped after he thought he had stomped it out of me, clearly he didn't. Although there were some awfully mean people, most just looked sorry for me.
I was sitting on my bed, it was the morning after I had been discharged from the hospital wing. I put on my uniform as usual and packed my bag. Ron walked towards me and patted me on he back before walking down the stairs to the common room. Hermione was there, as she usually is, waiting for us.
The three of us walked to the great hall. People whispered as I walked past, but for the most part it was alright. We finally made it to the Gryfinndor table. Everyone was looking at me. Slowly they all turned back and returned to their conversations. Ron began eating.
"Are you okay Harry?" Hermione asked genuinely.
"Yes I am" I said with confidence. I looked around before beginning to eat.
Draco came strutting into the hall and all eyes were fixed to him. Everyone wanted to know what he would do next. He strolled between the Slytherin and Gryfinndor tables before eventually sitting next to me.
"Alright Potter?" He said as he grabbed a slice of toast.
"What are you doing" I said gritting my teeth.
"Anything I want, the whole school knows so there's no reason to hide" Draco said. He wasn't wrong.
Draco was looking especially good today. His hair was brushed perfectly, his face was clear and his uniform hugged his slender body. He looked like a celebrity. He looked great.
As Draco started to eat I noticed that Hermione wasn't very comfortable and so in turn neither was Ron. I gently nudged Draco's leg under the table. He looked at me and then at Hermione. He understood.
"I'm very sorry Hermione for all of the Muggle-Born stuff, it's not an excuse but I had to keep up the whole pure blood thing because I was surrounded by friends of my family. However it has now become apparent that I am no longer friends with Crabbe and Goyle. My family has also shunned me so I have no reason to pretend to hate everyone. I'm sorry" Draco said apologetically to Hermione.
"Thank you for apologising Draco" Hermione said with a small smile. We all ate our breakfast. Every time one of us laughed the whole school turned to look at us, but we became used to it, It almost became a game.
As we were sitting at the table Draco rested his hand on my leg. I didn't think much of it but a slytherin saw and began to pretend to vomit. Draco turned around and gave them a death stare. Although Draco had been rejected by his old friends he still held status over the younger years, so the boy stopped and turned back around in fear of what Draco may do.
I wasn't sure how I felt. Draco squeezed my leg harder. Ron and Hermione both saw the situation and gave me a sympathetic glance. It was going to be tough. As I was semi famous anyone I dated would have been thrown into the spotlight but it was another situation entirely for me to be dating a boy and for that boy to be Draco Malfoy. It was surreal, it was like I was floating above life. It was going too well for this not to be a dream. I was excited about being public with our relationship but also deathly afraid.
I was stepping into uncharted territory, but it was nothing for a Gryfinndor.

Draco, Hermione, Ron and I were all walking together to potions. It was an unusual sight and Hermione and Ron weren't used to being stared at. Draco and I were used to it: I was the chosen one and the rumour around school currently was that he was the son of Voldemort, so a couple more people glaring than usual didn't affect us much.
We all walked into the cold basement classroom. As soon as you walked into Snape's classroom you could feel the air become heavy. It was like a thick cloud. Ron and Hermione sat at their desk and I sat in the spare seat next to Draco.
Snape strutted into the classroom, his long black robes flapped behind him. Snape glared at me and Draco but much to my surprise, he didn't tell me to move. I was flabbergasted, he must still be worried I would tell Dumbledore about Crabbe and Goyle. No he can't be, the whole school practically knows.
"Today we will be brewing Felix Felicis, it is an advanced potion so you have to follow the instructions extremely carefully" Snape growled. He looked around the classroom with a blank expression.
"Who can tell me the side effects of Felix Felicis?" Snape said.
Of course Hermione's hand shot straight up. Snape sighed and gave a look, almost pleading for anyone else to answer. After a moment Snape said,
"yes Miss Granger." Hermione cleared her throat to say,
"Felix Feclics, also known as liquid luck can cause, giddiness and reckless behaviour." Snape gave a small nod.
"Now this potion can be extremely toxic if brewed incorrectly, so don't mess it up!" Snape growled.
"Well, you better make it" I said to Draco as everyone started to get out their equipment and ingredients. He looked at me and smiled.
"You always smile like you're about to cry" I said quietly. Part of me didn't want Draco to hear it. Draco didn't say anything but he gave my hand a quick squeeze as he added ashwinder egg to the cauldron.
Per usual Draco had me perform the smaller tasks, and he was the one who actually made the potion. I kept on looking at Draco as he worked, it was fascinating. He was in his own little bubble of extreme concentration. He furrowed his brows slightly as he tried to add the perfect amount of squill bulb. He looked happy, like he loved what he was doing. That made me happy.
The lesson seemed to drag on forever, but when it eventually ended Draco handed in 'our' potion and we walked out of the dingy room. Hermione and Ron walked on ahead of us. We had a bit of time before our next lesson started so we sat on a bench in he corridor. It wasn't a very busy corridor but still people looked at us.
I moved my hand up to stroke Draco's hair.
"Your hair is so soft.." I said quietly.
"It's called conditioner Potter" Draco said teasing me a little. I loved everything about this boy, how he looked, how he dressed, what he said, the way he said it, his sense of humour, everything was perfect. Absolutely utterly perfect. He lent in and gave me a kiss on the nose.
As lesson time was drawing closer we got up and walked to our history of magic classroom. There was a sign on the door saying:
History of magic lessons have been replaced with independent study for the next week.
"Get in!" Draco said once he had read the note.
"Let's go back to Gryfinndor and revise" I said. We then walked all the way to the Gryfinndor common room. Many paintings made comments on Draco and I walking together.
We made it the common room, I threw my bag on the table and sat down. Draco placed his books down gently and sat next to me. There weren't any people in the common room, as most people in our class had gone to the great hall to study.
Draco attempted to show me some equations for potions. I tried to listen as I snugged up next to him. I rested my head on his shoulder and hugged his arm. We sat like this for a few minutes before Draco tried to move to pick up a book.
"No I'm not letting you go" I said to Draco. He just smiled and shook himself off.
"It's too cold, come back" I whined half joking.
Draco was much better at studying with distractions then I was. I just saw Draco sitting there and I couldn't think of anything else I had to hold him or be held by him. His touch was addictive. Draco was deep into his essay but I poked him, he didn't do anything, so I poked him again.
"What are you doing?" He chuckled.
"I'm not going to stop poking me until you give me some attention" I said looking into Draco's stormy eyes. Then Draco said,
"Come here, you can sit in my lap until I've finished working."
