The tears dried and Draco cleared his throat. He stood up, slowly regaining his composure. He somehow managed to look as if he hadn't cried and his air of confidence returned.
"Come with me" I said grabbing his hand.
I dragged him to Lupin's classroom. Remus was sat at the desk looking over pieces of parchment. He looked ill and exhausted. His robes were worn and darned.
"Ja- Harry, what's wrong?" He said standing up.
"We need your help" I said passing him the letter. He read it through and looked up at Draco and I moments later.
"I will send a letter to Sirius now telling him to withdraw all money in your account and to put it under a new name" he said formulating a plan.
"I'll need you to sign a piece of parchment explaining that you give Sirius permission to do that" he said passing some paper and a quill to Draco who quickly started writing.
I knew I could come to Remus, he's calm and levelheaded under pressure, he'd know exactly what to do.
"I need to go and see them" Draco announced after writing his permission.
"Who?" I asked inquisitively.
"My parents" he muttered.
"That's not a good idea Draco" Lupin said.
I nodded my head in agreement.
"It's the only way they'll have any belief in me" he replied with a shaking voice.
"It is the quality of one's convictions that determines success, not the number of followers" Remus said stoically.
"Please let Sirius and I take care of this" he said patting Draco on the shoulder, "don't you boys have an exam soon?"
"Bloody hell, we do" I said energetically.
Draco perked up and we ran out after thanking Lupin. We sprinted all the way to the great hall.
It was completely silent.
Every. Single. Person. Looked. At. Us.
Hermione gave us a dirty look for being late. We quickly walked to our seats and sat down. I didn't even know what subject the exam was in. I looked at McGonagall who surprisingly gave Draco and I a sympathetic glance.
She waved her wand and the questions appeared. I picked up my quill and began to read the questions.
I figured out that it was the herbology exam, a subject I couldn't care less about. I answered the questions pretty easy but I did have to guess a few.
The exam ended and the papers were collected. Draco mouthed that he was going back to Slytherin, I nodded to tell him I understood.
Once in the corridor, Hermione and Ron caught up with me.
"Harry, what were you thinking?" You could have been disqualified!" She said astonished at my apparent carelessness.
"Yeah mate, what were you and Draco playing at?" Ron said with confusion.
"Something came up" I said dismissively.
"Yeah is that what you're calling making out now?" Ron chuckled.
I stopped and was overwhelmed with anger. I hated how they were being so presumptive.
"Do you guys not understand that mine and Draco's relationship is not a Lil cute and easy one like yours? Do your parents care, no! In fact, they're happy for you. It's not like that for me, it's a constant battle, and we are trying to help each other through that. So it would actually be helpful if you could not just assume that we are just constantly snogging!" I screamed shaking with anger.
Both Hermione and Ron were taken aback but my seemingly unprovoked rage.
"Potter in my office now!" I heard a voice behind me.
I turned around to be met with Professor McGonagall. She had her arms crossed and a look of disgust on her face.
I hung my head in shame and followed after her.
Once in her office she sat down in the worn chair facing the large fireplace, she gestured for me to sit in the chair next to her.
"I have heard from Professor Lupin the situation you and Draco Malfoy find yourself in, however, I cannot tolerate shouting like that. No matter how angry you are" she said in a stern voice.
"I'm sorry professor" I muttered.
"Can I ask Harry..." she begun, "what you meant when you mentioned a battle?"
I cleared my throat as my eyes pricked with tears due to her tough kindness.
"Uh, it's just hard" I started before stopping to prevent myself from sobbing right in front of her.
"Nothing is ever easy for me and Draco, it just seems like we never get a break. Like with Draco and his family, and with Crabbe and Goyle" I said in a quiet tone.
"What do you mean with Crabbe and Goyle?" She asked.
"They beat me and Draco up and I'm also pretty sure it was them that charmed the bludger to hit Draco's leg" I uttered.
"Did you tell a member of staff about these incidents?" She asked with concern.
"I was going to but then Professor Snape said that as both Crabbe and Goyle were influential purebloods" I said with air quotes, "that we shouldn't tell others. I don't have any actual evidence that it was them that bewitched that bludger, it's just a hunch, so I couldn't say anything" I said rambling as I got it all off of my chest.
"I assure you, Harry, this will be dealt with quickly and carefully" she said reassuring me.
"I will speak to Professor Snape, Hogwarts should be a place where students can spend time with whoever they want and not feel threatened" she said sternly.
