We walked to the shop, the outside was completely taken over by owls sitting in cages. Despite the many owls they failed to cover the very dark exterior of the shop window. Memories of Hagrid taking me here to buy Hedwig came flooding back.

"Come on" Draco said dragging me in by my arm.

A frail shopkeeper stood at the counter. Draco approached confidently.

"Master Potter and Master Malfoy, What can I do for you today? A barred owl is normally 11 Gallons but for you I'll go down to 10" he said eager to please the pair of us.

"We're not looking for an owl today" Draco said leaning on the counter as he rested his arm on top of it.

"Oh, I see, well I just had some Billywig eggs delivered today" he said in a whisper.

"No, I'm looking for a muggle creature" Draco said leaning in.

"A muggle creature? Are you sure Master Malfoy? They are much more mundane" the man said with confusion.

"Yes, a muggle creature, they are much easier to take care of. They don't breathe fire or shapeshift" Draco said explaining himself.

I felt kind of awkward just standing there, but I had no idea what to say. I looked around but you can only look at owls for so long.

"What muggle creature were you thinking of sir?" The man said rubbing his hands together.

"A snake, a smooth green snake" Draco answered.

"I'll have to check the back" the man said before scurrying away.

"How do you know he did other animals?" I asked Draco.

"My dad used to come here for a plethora of banned creatures" Draco replied.

The man came back but this time with a little green snake in his hand.

"Oh like a grass snake" I said.

"Yeah exactly" Draco said gently taking the snake from the man and delicately patting its head.

"You'll need to get a tank for it" the man said.

"Yeah sure, thank you" Draco said handing over 10 gallons.

"Why thank you very much sir" the man said taking the money and stuffing it into his pocket.

We walked out of the shop together with Anguis safety in Draco's pocket.

We swam through the crowds of people, Draco held my hand so we wouldn't lose each other. Some people from school said hello as we passed and some older wizards and witches noticed our intertwined hands and tried to hide their surprise.

I suppose it was quite shocking, and it sort of slipped my mind that people outside of Hogwarts had no idea about the two of us. Maybe our companionship was the most shocking, or maybe our openness, perhaps just the fact we were both gay. Whatever it was Draco smiled at the looks, he enjoyed showing me off.

We got to the leaky cauldron in one piece. Sirius and Remus were sat in a little corner booth, we joined them.

"Can I see the little guy?" Sirius asked.

Draco gently pulled out the small snake who was now awake in Draco's palm.

"Cute" Lupin said.

"Good luck getting that thing into Hogwarts" Sirius said before taking a swig of butterbeer.

"Well if Ron had a rat I don't see why I can't have a snake" Draco replied.

"Good point" Sirius said patting Draco on the shoulder.

"Do you boys wanna get some lunch?" Lupin asked.

We gave him our orders, he collected the food and brought it to the table, interrupting Sirius telling us his best hiding places in Hogwarts.

"At the end closest to the door of the Gryffindor table I glued a wooden box under the table to hide things in. It was a good place for trades and stuff" Sirius said ignoring his food.

"Ooo! Do you ride your brooms like skateboards? James taught me. It's where you stand on the broom with one foot in front of the other. You know what a skateboard is right Harry?" Sirius asked.

"Yeah, Yeah I do. I'll be sure to try that when I get back" I said smiling.

"Sirius maybe you should give the boys some time to eat their food" Lupin said as he put his hand on Sirius' thigh.

"I'm just trying to impart some of my tricks on to my favourite boys" Sirius said pretending to be annoyed.

It was quite for a moment before Sirius asked,

"Now do you want to know a trick for getting into the other common rooms?"
