Draco wrapped his hand around mine.

"I can barely do potions with two hands" I said with a smile. He let go of my hand and brought his lips to my ear.

"You might have to learn" he whispered. My smile grew wider.

I began to crush the mistletoe berries as Snape came wandering over.

"That's an improper crushing technique" he growled.

"Why didn't you correct him Draco?" Snape said leaning in.

"It's almost perfect" Draco replied.

"Almost perfect isn't perfect" Snape muttered.

I stopped crushing the berries.

"No Potter carry on, you're doing fine" Draco said without looking away from Snape.

"You're becoming lazy Draco, maybe it's all that time you're spending with Gryfinndors" Snape said swapping his gaze to me. I could see Draco clutching the edge of the table. His knuckles were white and his jaw was clenched.

A large bang broke the tension, we all turned to look.

"Sorry, sorry" Seamus said picking up the fallen caldron. Snape turned and his cloak flapped behind him.

"Why are all Gryfinndors so incompetent?!" Snape shouted.

"100 points from Gryfinndor" he spat before walking out of the classroom. Some other Gryfinndors began to murmur sounds of disagreement. One or two Slytherins smiled.

"Come on Potter" Draco said reaching out his hand. I grabbed it and followed him out of the classroom and down the corridor.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"McGonagall" Draco said strutting down the hallway.

We reached the first floor and then McGonagall's office. Draco reached out and knocked against the oak door.

"Yes, come in" a voice shouted from inside. Draco pushed open the door with his free hand and lead me across the stone floor to McGonagall's desk. The walls were painted with images of unicorns, and other magical creatures, surrounded by different types of flowers. Most of the walls were taken up by large wonky bookcases which lead around the room to a large brick fireplace. Two worn armchairs stood in front of it.

McGonagall stood up and looked through her glasses at us.

"What seems to be the problem boys?" She asked.

"We've come to complain about the unfair treatment of Gryfinndors by Professor Snape" Draco announced.

"Unfair?" McGonagall asked, "in what way?" Draco glanced at me quickly before saying,

"he removes points without a proper reason, he offers help to all students apart from Gryfinndors and he doesn't punish Slytherin students regardless of the severity of their actions."

A quill had started writing down what Draco was saying.

"Do you understand that making a complaint is very serious, especially against your own housemaster?" McGonagall asked cautiously.

"Yes I do" Draco replied. McGonagall turned to me and asked, "would you agree with Mr Malfoy's allegations?" I nodded my head and said,

"ask any Gryfinndor, they'll say the same."

She thought for a moment.

"Please don't tell any other students about this complaint, I would like to keep this as contained as possible" she said looking at Draco and I.

"Thank you professor McGonagall" Draco said sincerely.

"Yes, thank you" I added.

We both walked out.

"Merlin's beard, you've got some guts to complain about Snape" I said in a sort of shout whisper.

"Well he should be held accountable for his clear favouritism" Draco said sharply.

"Well yes I agree, but making an official complaint, you'll be the talk of Hogwarts" I said trying to explain myself.

"Like I'm not already" he said raising one eyebrow.

"Well just remember, I'm the chosen one" I said in a pretend cocky tone. We both chuckled.

"Don't get me wrong, I think you're extremely brave for doing that, but also extremely crazy" I said laughing. Draco shrugged his shoulders.

"Should we go to lunch?" I asked.

"It's a bit early isn't it?" Draco answered.

"Yeah but what's the alternative" I said.

"I guess you're right" Draco said as we slowly walked towards the great hall.

House elves were still rushing up and down preparing the food for everyone. A few of them grumbled at us for coming in early. Draco and I sat at the Gryfinndor table.

"Do Slytherins mind you sitting with Gryfinndors?" I asked.

"I don't think so, and if they do they're too scared to confront me" Draco replied.

"You'd be a good prefect, all of the younger years cower at your feet" I said with a cheeky smile.

"Yeah but I'd also have to be a role model and I think that's a step to far" Draco replied.

A few students began to walk into the hall, among them was Seamus,

"Merlin's beard Harry, that lesson was crazy" he shouted. Dean walked behind him smiling.
