Break

We all sat down, some first years even clapped. Draco sat opposite me next to Ron and Hermione sat beside me. As expected Ron immediately dove into the plate of sandwiches. Draco once again only nibbled on half a sandwich but that was a problem for another day. Hermione reluctantly didn't start to read the books stacked beside her and instead initiated it the conversation.

"Have you guys started to pack yet?" She said looking at us all.

"Ugh no" Ron spluttered.

"I have I've just got to pack my books and I'm finished" Draco said proudly.

"To be honest Hermione I haven't even thought about it" I said looking at the table.

I lied, it was constantly at the back of my mind. Going back to the Dursley's. Each time was worse. I think I scared them but it didn't stop them beating me. Dudley was much bigger than me and since I've gone to Hogwarts he's missed his skinny punching bag. I can't help but annoy them. They hate absolutely everything about me.

Draco saw the turmoil across my face and stroked my leg with his foot. Draco had it worse, he was kicked of the Malfoy home and had to go and stay with a distant homophobic aunt. At least the Dursley's don't know what happens in Hogwarts. Draco can't escape.

An owl flew into the hall through the gothic windows and swooped down dropping a letter on Ron's plate.

"I'm not expecting anything" Ron said looking at the letter puzzled.

"Maybe it's from your parents" Hermione said.

"No it can't be, that owl actually looked like it knew where it was going" Ron said holding the letter.

"Just open it" I said wondering what it was. Ron ripped open the envelope and took the letter out. As we was reading it a smile crept across his face.

"What it it?" Hermione said. Ron handed the letter to me,

Dear Ronald,

Me and your father have heard that Harry is to go back to that awful muggle family of his and we have to insist that he stays with us. Also we would like it if Draco decided to come as he is very much welcomed. Please let both of the boys know that they are invited to stay at our house for the break.

See you soon
Molly

"Mrs Weasley has invited me and Draco to stay at Ron's" I said. Hermione smiled and held Ron's hand. I saw that Draco looked shocked.

"She's invited me?" Draco asked quietly.

"Yeah, I mean you are Harry's boyfriend and stuff" Ron said returning to his sandwich.

"Whoa" Draco said and then started to smile.

"Thanks Ron" he said looking at Ron with gratitude.

"No worries" Ron spluttered.

Draco thought for a moment and got up abruptly,

"I have to go" he said as he walked out of the hall.

"I think kindness has killed him" Ron said.

"I think it's wonderful you're inviting him to stay" Hermione said linking her arms with Ron.

"I can't imagine he would be having a good time at home" she said lifting her head from Ron's shoulder.

"Yeah I guess" Ron replied.

I didn't know if I should tell Hermione and Ron what had happened to Draco, presumably Mrs Weasley knows as these sort of things travel fast in the wizard world. However I don't think Ron or Hermione know. I don't know if Draco wants to share his business with others.

After thinking about if for a few moments I decided that Draco is now pretty close to Hermione and Ron so he probably wouldn't mind, maybe he would even rather it was me that told them.

"What's wrong Harry?" Hermione Asked.

"Do you guys know what  happened to Draco?" I said taking a deep breath. Ron shook his head and Hermione said,

"is everything alright?" I lent forward and lowered my voice.

"Draco was kicked out after he came out to his parents" I said whispering. Hermione put her hand to her mouth in shock and Ron dropped his fork, the clanging when it hit the group drew some attention towards us.

"I thought the magic world would be more accepting then that" Hermione gulped,

"I thought it was blood purity they cared about."

"It is mostly, everyone's pretty accepting of things like that but clearly the Malfoy's are awful in every way possible" Ron said as he picked up his fork. I nodded. Hermione bit her lip,

"it must have been so awful growing up in place like that."

"Yeah they told him he had to go and live with some homophobic aunt in the holidays" I said still whispering.

"That's probably what my mum heard" Ron said.

I looked around, Crabby and Goyle glared at me. I was always worried that they could overhear What's was saying. I looked at pansy siting next to them, she looked jealously at me. I sensed that Draco leaving the friendship group upset her. To be fair I would be distraught if the only friends I  had were crabby and Goyle. But then I saw something else, her eyes dash to Ginny and linger on her for a moment before she looked away. I gave a small chuckle.
