Ron and Hermione came around the corner.
"Where were you at lunch Harry?" Ron asked.
"Or should we ask what you were doing?" Hermione said unexpectedly.
"Nothing you need to know about" Draco answered for me, putting his arm around my shoulders.
The door to the classroom opened, signalling that it was time to go in.
I sat at my normal desk at the back, in the middle with Draco.
We had a few things laid out on our desks.
"It will be private study for today's lesson in preparation for your examinations," McGonagall said, standing in front of the class.
"Get in," Seamus said turning around to start to talk to me and Draco.
"But unlike normal private study, you'll be pleased to know Seamus, it will be in silence" she announced.
Seamus slowly turned back around looking defeated.
"I will also be picking on people throughout the lesson to make sure you are successfully retaining the information we throw at you," she said, a few muffled groans could be heard across the classroom.
I grabbed a goblet and started trying to turn it into a rat. Everyone else started as well.
Hermione swished her wand a couple of times and all of the objects on her table had changed. She gave a smug nod and then pulled out an old book.
McGonagall looked impressed.
Draco was a skilled wizard but even he couldn't produce perfect transfigurations so fast. The whole class glanced over at Hermione's desk, both with jealousy and admiration.
Hermione was that exact same person that greeted me on the Hogwarts express, and I was thankful for it.
Ron turned to me with a face of confusion as he had only managed to half turn one of his pin pillows into a hedgehog.
I muffled a laugh.
"Mr Weasley, what wand movement is needed for a partial transformation?"
The only entire class started to listen. Heads rose slightly and hair was tucked behind ears.
"Umm, a partial wand flick? But I wouldn't know, I always complete a full transformation" he said with scratches of his cheeky humour poking out.
The half pin pillow cross hedgehog squeaked.
The class erupted with laughter.
McGonagall tried to suppress a smile.
"Unfortunately Mr Weasley that is the incorrect answer" she with complete calmness.
She started to scan the room again.
I put my head down to avoid being asked.
McGonagall pointed her wand at Draco,
"Mr Potter, I suppose you know the answer?"
An electric shock ran through everyone in that room, they all perked up.
"I apologise, Mr Malfoy, not Mr potter," she said seemingly unaffected by her mistake.
I glanced at Draco.
He was blushing and smiling from ear to ear.
"I don't mind" he rambles quickly.
It was my turn to turn red now, not with embarrassment, but I want really sure what it was.
"It's a semi-circular movement" he answered correctly.
I jotted that down.
Ron turned around and mouth to me,
"How did he even know that?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
***
Class ended and everyone rushed off. It was just me and Professor McGonagall left.
"Is there something you wanted to ask me, Harry?" She asked kindly.
"Umm, yes professor," I said stepping towards her desk at the front of the room.
"Well then?" She asked, prompting me to talk.
"I just wanted to thank you for earlier in the exam hall," I said looking at my feet the entire time I spoke.
"What earlier in the exam hall?" She said with a mischievous grin.
"Thank you, professor," I said going to walk out of the room.
"You know..." she began just as I had placed my hand on the door.
"You and he remind me of a young Mr Black and Professor Lupin," she said with a small smile, and memories swirling around in her eyes.
I nodded and walked out.
Everyone else has memories, all I can do is listen. I can remember people telling me about the memories of my parents and their friends, but I can't actually remember for myself.
It has had to travel through someone else's head first.
***
I walked past Cho in the corridor, she was with a gaggle of other Ravenclaw girls.
"Hi Harry," she said softly.
"Oh um hi," I said back to her.
Her friends giggled.
I never knew why girls did that, why is it when every boy talks girls find it funny?
I carried on walking, I turned back to see if they were still giggling.
My eyes met with cho's.
She gave a small smile.
Oh fuck.
How am I going to get out of this?
