Haylie pov

I found him. Meet me here at 8pm

I read the text before placing my phone back, screen down, on the table next to my glass. I felt like I couldn't be calm ever since I saw Calvins name. But I couldn't respond yet as my dad was still telling a story and we were only halfway through Sunday dinner.

I couldn't even listen as I was thinking about how I'm going to get to the location he pin dropped. I was thinking about texting Zach but then remembered he had my number blocked. I could text Jamie or Ben but Calvin didn't want Daniel to know. Would they tell him? Megan could drive me but was that stupid and reckless for three teenage girls to try and help this situation?

Then again Calvin already wanted to involve me by texting me this.

It would be a bad idea to go on my own. That would be the reckless move.

My phone buzzed again and I looked down to see Zach's name.

Calvin text me. I'll pick you up at 7. Don't tell Danny.

"Hey." I looked up and placed the phone back down as my dad stared at me. "No phones at the table, come on."

He never cared before. But I still moved it from the table down to my lap and tried to focus on the dinner my mum had spent all day cooking. "How was the party last night?" my mum said also knowing my dad's reaction was a little petty.

I pushed the texts to the back of my mind and looked over to the clock in the corner. It was only 3 o'clock. I could probably get away with saying I picked up another shift at work.

"It was a lot of fun actually."

"Who's party, was it?" Alex asked from her side of the table. I stared at her for a second, seeing she was looking at me like she wanted to catch a lie.

So, I wouldn't let her. "This guy that Scarlett and I work with. You don't know him."

My dad frowned. "I thought it was someone from school?"

I shrugged. "I don't think I ever said it was." He rolled his eyes but obviously had nothing to say so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. "I think he actually called in sick to his shift today, so I said I'd pick it up."

"You're working tonight?" My mum frowned. "What time?"

I shrugged again like it was no big deal. "5. I have plenty of time."

My dad looked back up from his plate. "I'll take you."

"I can get the bus."

He stared at me still. "I'll take you." I sighed but nodded. Worst case scenario I head into the diner and go into the back until he leaves.

I don't know what it was that I had done to deserve my dad and sister to look at me like they knew I was doing something I shouldn't. Like they knew last night I was somewhere I shouldn't be but if I wanted it to stop, I had to be better at lying.

"Okay, would you mind picking me up as well then? I should be finished around 11." I put on a sweet smile, but he nodded. "I'll text you if it's going to be earlier or later."

After lunch I helped clean up and headed up stairs to pretend to get ready for work while I pulled out my phone.

My dad thinks I'm working. Pick me up from the diner?

Considering I thought he still had my number blocked I was surprised to see typing straight away.

Time?

If my dad was dropping me off at 5, I wasn't sure how I was going to fill my time but before I could think my phone started to ring. "What time?" He said as a greeting.
