Third Person's POV

"You've been less lethargic these days." His boss commented as a file was handed to him. He took the folder and briskly flipped through it.

"Just been sleeping better I suppose." He lied but he had a feeling his superior could see right through him. His eyes narrowed as he focused on a piece of information in the papers, "Sir, something like this...It'll take at least a week."

"And is that a problem?" The man raised an eyebrow in suspicion, "This is the first time you've complained."

"N-No, it was just sudden." He mumbled and felt his stomach drop. He promised Tony that they would go on a date tomorrow and now he would need to make up some bullshit excuse. "I'll get on it."

He took the case file with him as he walked away, his hand fished for his phone in his pocket and rifled through his contacts.

"Clint? Aren't you working?" Tony's voice came through and he couldn't help but smile. These days even his partner's voice was enough to suit him.

"What is it? You don't want me calling you?"

"N-No, I just don't want you to get in trouble."

"I'll be fine, I'm just calling to tell you I have to fly out for work today."

"Today?!" Their voice laced with shock, "Why is it so sudden?"

"I don't know." He huffed and ran his hand through his hair, "I wish my boss would have given me the heads up."

"How long are you gone for?"

"A week."

There was an audible sigh over the line and he couldn't help but feel guilty, "Where are you flying out to?"

He read the documents, "Switzerland apparently."

"Just bring me back home souvenirs."

"Why do you put up with me?" He smiled sadly as if the other man could see him. Tony chuckled softly over the line.

"Because I love you." They replied in a softer tone, his eyes widened at the statement. He had expected a sarcastic remark but fuck, this was the last thing he expected. There was a long silence, "Did I say that too soon?"

"I love you too." He blurted and felt the heat rise to his face. "When I get back we can do whatever you want."

"When you get back I'm slapping you across the face." Tony grumbled and he continued to smile. "I'll see you when you get back."

"Tony?"

"Hm?"

"I love you."

His partner scoffed, "I love you too." The call ended and he couldn't help but have mixed feelings. He felt like an asshole but eternally grateful that Tony was willing to put up with him; even told him that they loved him. He decided to push aside the thought for now, he needed to focus on the mission for now.

A WEEK LATER

"You seem glad to be back." Natasha smiled warmly at him and he just pursed his lips and nodded. "Anywhere you need to be?"

"Something like that." He huffed and rubbed the nape of his neck, he was exhausted sure, but he was also eager to see Tony. "I'll catch up with you later."
