As soon as Hoseok stepped in the front door, he knew something was off.

After a long day's work, he would usually come home to find Taehyung sprawled out on the couch watching tv or scrolling through his phone, he then would have to do even more work and cook a dinner for both him and his boyfriend so the two of them wouldn't starve.

Today however, he had to do a double take, as the second he shut the door behind him he was greeted with the scent of food.

"Hoseok!" Taehyung cheered as the kitchen door flung open revealing the younger boy. "You're home!"

Hoseok smiled as Taehyung came to welcome him home with a grin; it had been a week since Hoseok went back to work after Taehyung had fully recovered from his food poisoning, and he had a feeling that Taehyung was starting to miss being joined at the hip 24/7. He almost felt bad seeing how excited Taehyung was to see him each evening when he got home from work, especially since he was staying in the office longer than usual to make up for the time he took off to nurse Taehyung back to health.

It didn't help that Taehyung's schedule was wide open, thanks to summer holidays, so the younger boy was struggling to keep himself entertained while Hoseok worked long hours.

"Hey baby!" Hoseok cheered back, opening his arms for Taehyung to come give him a welcoming hug. "How was your day?"

"Great!" Taehyung beamed brightly, unlatching himself from Hoseok before pulling off the older man's coat and slinging it across the coat rack. "I have a surprise for you!"

"Surprise?" Hoseok smiled as Taehyung took him by the hand. "For me?"

"Who else would it be for?" Taehyung asked incredulously, pulling Hoseok into the living room where he had set the dining table for the two of them.

"You set the table? That's my surprise?" Hoseok joked playfully.

"No~" Taehyung giggled, pulling out a chair and ushering Hoseok to sit in it. "Guess again! You're going to be so proud of me!"

"Did you..." Hoseok trailed off, deciding to play dumb to get a rise out of Taehyung. "Hoover the living room?"

"No- Hoseok!" Taehyung urged. "What's something you do every day, that you don't trust me to do on my own?"

"Clean up after yourself?" Hoseok chuckled.

"No! Babe- I made dinner!" Taehyung whinged in annoyance. "I thought it would be nice to finally give you the romantic dinner you wanted when you came back from France!"

"I know baby, I was just kidding." Hoseok laughed as Taehyung scowled at him. "What did you make?"

"I'll go get it!" Taehyung chirped; his smile returned now that Hoseok was behaving.

Hoseok smiled to himself as Taehyung scurried into the kitchen, he was completely shocked by Taehyung's effort- him cooking a meal was a miracle in itself, but the boy had gone all out to set the table nicely and light a few candles to set a romantic mood.

"Tada!" Hoseok looked up as Taehyung burst back into the room with a plate in each hand and a bottle of red wine under his arm. "And I bought you a little something to go with it."

He set one of the plates down in front of Hoseok, who's eyebrows shot into his hairline.

"Oh my gosh, Tae!" Hoseok gasped. "You made a whole lasagne?! That's like, hard for someone of- ah... your skill to make."

And what's more, the lasagne looked actually edible, not burnt at all.

"By my skill do you mean totally unskilled?" Taehyung joked as he sat across from his boyfriend. "Because you have a point."
