I heard the blaring noise of the drill and immediately cringed.
I didn't want to do this.
I want to get out of this chair.
But I can't do that, I want to become a dentist.
I have to do this.
I felt Noah grab my hand again, and heard him whisper to me,
"It'll be really quick. You got this."
I felt the drill hit my tooth and I immediately groaned.
Dr. Clemens was right, it didn't hurt a bunch, but it was super uncomfortable and stung a little. The worst part was the sound the drill made as it came in contact with my tooth.
Pretty soon, the awful noise stopped and I slowly opened my eyes.
"Mr. Gray, would you mind fixing the composite for me?" Dr. Clemens asked as Noah nodded his head yes, let go of my hand, and left the room, leaving me alone with our professor.
"You know, your cavity was pretty bad." Dr. Clemens commented, I looked away at the ceiling.
"You also seemed pretty uneasy at the sight of the needle and drill.....you know you're going to have to get used to them because you will be using them soon enough." He said again, without me looking at him.
"I cannot have you as my dental student trying to get their DDS if you can't even handle the tools yourself." He lectured me as he sighed.
Thankfully, Noah walks into the room holding a tray of composite, disrupting the awkward tension in the room.
He hands the tray to Dr. Clemens and gives me a confused look while walking over to sit on his cringe-worthy rolly chair.
Dr. Clemens searches in his drawer for a weird pair of sunglasses and situates them on face.
I was curious as to what those were for until I realize it's the light for him to solidify the composite.
Dr. Clemens takes forever to mold the composite on top of my tooth, when he does, he positions the special light over mouth.
"It should be about 5 minutes, for it to harden. Don't lick it, whatever you do." Dr. Clemens warned me while I was forced to wait for 5 minutes with my mouth open and it was starting to get so tired.
The 5 minutes felt like an eternity, but finally, Dr. Clemens turned off the special light and took the sunglasses off of my face.
My jaw was thankful to finally have a break and for it to not be forced open anymore.
I was finally done with my stupid cavity problem and I could finally get out of this freakin dentist chair and get the heck out of the grasps of my professor and his deathly tools.
I was wondering why Dr. Clemens hadn't move the seat up yet, so I gave a confusing glance to Noah, who just shrugged his shoulders.
I went to go sit up, but I was pushed back down by Dr. Clemens.
"You are definitely overdue for a cleaning, so would you rather Mr. Gray do it or have me do it in the middle of lecture?" He asked while raising one eyebrow, why was he making me choose. Either way he's trying to embarrass me, probably because I didn't seek immediate attention for my cavity.
Before I could answer, Noah spoke up.
"Uh, why would I be doing her cleaning?" He asked curiously, which I was wondering why too, but I didn't ask because that would be rude.
"It's a perfect learning experience, and I'll be right here to correct." Dr. Clemens explained, Noah just nodded his head.
"Noah can do it." I mumbled to both of them.
Noah began to set up for a cleaning and seemed to be a bit anxious.
Why would he be anxious, he will be a perfect dentist.
Noah rolled his stool over to where Dr. Clemens sat.
"Open wide, please." I did as he said, which was somewhat intimidating.
Noah grabbed the toothbrush and began the cleaning.
I couldn't help but get lost in his eyes. His eyes were just so majestic and were so interesting to watch as he focused so intently.
I didn't even focus on what he was doing or how long it took, until he declared "done".
