2 9
At around 9, I was able to get discharged, seeing that I was coming back here on Monday at 10 for an appointment.
Noah came back to my apartment with me, to make sure that I was okay and to help me pack.
And in the sadness and tears of my call with my mom, I let it slip that I may or may not have a boyfriend, so I accidentally dragged Noah into my family reunion tomorrow.
This weekend I'm going to try and not to completely focus on the situation at hand, but to spend time with my family and then worry about the situation on Monday.
I search through my closet for cute, but appropriate outfits when I feel Noah come up behind me and puts his hands on my waist, with his head on my shoulder.
"I don't want to leave you, but I have to go pack, too. But I'll come pick you up in the morning." Noah says as I turn around to face him.
Considering I'm a little bit short than Noah, I stand on my tippie toes a bit while Noah leans down and kisses me.
Our kiss lasted a few seconds before I pulled away.
"I love you." I said as he goes to walk out of my apartment.
"I love you too." He responds back before he leaves my apartment, leaving me to pack.
————-skip to morning————-
Noah picks me up at around 10:30 so that I can offer my mom any help with food or whatnot, since it is at my parents' house.
I held Noah's hand as he focused on the road, it was only like a 45 minute drive to the house, much to my dismay of how close it was to the university.
When we arrived to the house there were already 5 cars, one for each member of my family and a familiar black BMW, my Uncle Collins, or should I say the only dentist I actually trust.
You can tell who the dentists are in my family because they all have a NDA (National Dental Association) bumper sticker, except for me because I will never advertise on my car that I'm a dentist, just saying. However, for Noah, he might get one, I mean why not be proud of your accomplishment.
Noah and I grabbed our bags and walked hand and hand into my actual home.
As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by my niece who was in my brothers' arms.
My dad showed up out of nowhere to inspect and interrogate Noah.
"Noah, do you care if I have a word?" My dad said right after he hugged me.
"Um, of course not, sir." Noah said as he shot me a look of fear before following me Dad.
I went to the kitchen seeing my mom putting a pasta salad into the fridge, and pulling out a big watermelon to cut.
I headed through the kitchen to go into my room and to set my bag down, I told myself to help my mom as soon as I got back out there.
Which is where I was headed as I went to go and wash my hands before helping her.
But she stopped me,
"Your Uncle Collins wanted to talk to you, I think he's outside by the grill."
Great, I wonder what he wants to talk about it.
I head to my backyard and see my uncle watching the grill.
"Hey"
"Ah, Willow. How's my favorite patient?" He said with a cunning smile as he knew I did not like having the connection of most of family being dentists.
"Clever." I sarcastically answered back to him.
"Anyways, how are your studies going?" He said as he turned back around to tend to the grill to make sure he didn't burn the kabobs.
"Okay I guess. I have finals in a month."
"And how's your dental hygiene?" He asked, plunging into my least favorite topic.
"What?! Uncle Collins, I'm not a 5 year old, I know how to take care of my teeth." I retorted back at him.
"Oh really. When's the last time you came to see me then, hmmm?"
"You know, you're not my only dentist. I just had a cavity filled a few months ago." This conversation is not going to end well.
"Oh, you obviously can't take care of your teeth then."
This was conversation was getting heated and before I could even answer back, Noah walked up and grabbed my hand, him realizing that I'm fuming.
"And who might you be?" My uncle asked, sticking his hand out and putting on his charming, pearly-white smile.
"Noah Gray, sir." Noah responded as shook my uncle's hand.
"When's the last time you went to a dentist?" My uncle asked, waiting for a response.
"Um, maybe a year ago." Noah responded back, unsure.
"What are you guys doing tomorrow?" My uncle asked, I knew what he was doing, he was trying to get us to get checkups with him.
"We're like super busy tomorrow." I responded, in a matter of fact tone, trying to hide my lies.
"We are? I thought you said you just wanted to relax tomorrow." Noah blurted out before I shot him a death glare.
"That's settled then, I will see you both at 11 then. I suppose you know how to get there." My uncle said and then immediately left us, so that I couldn't turn him down.
"What just happened?" Noah asked, obviously very confused.
"We have a dentist appointment, tomorrow." I mumbled out as I leaned into Noah.
Yeah, my uncle helps me with my fear and all, but first and foremost, he's a dentist and always will care for the dental hygiene above everything else, something I need to learn.
