I was starting to wonder why there was random doctors in my hospital room.
Was there something wrong?
I mean I know about my heart.
Maybe that's why there are in here.
But whatever they're in here for, I hope the younger doctor dressed in bright pink scrubs and with a high blonde ponytail doesn't stay longer than she has to.
She seems way to happy for life.
"Ms. Samuels, I would like to introduce you to my Chief of cardio, Dr. Summers, and to her resident, Dr. Matthews, and finally to the Chief of radiology, Dr. Green." He explained as he pointed each of them out, me giving a smile to them in return and realizing that the happy and cheerful one was the resident, Dr. Matthews.
"I'm sorry to wake you, but we have to do some tests and you are scheduled for scans later. Each person in this room has something scheduled with you today." He said as he looked to Dr. Summers, waiting for her to continue.
"Okay, so today, since you had the problem last night, we are going to run two tests and then some others tomorrow, since you aren't ready to face those yet."
That doesn't sound promising, but wait, did she say tomorrow.
"Hold on, you said tomorrow, as in me staying another day in here." I said, interrupting her.
"I'm afraid so, but it's so that we know that you're healthy and that we don't have to worry about a dental student having heart problems in the middle of treating a patient." Dr. Summers explained with authority in her voice.
"Like I was saying before, we're doing two tests today, an ECG and an Echo." She explained as her cheerful resident, brought equipment to the right side of the bed.
"And after these tests, you will have a head scan around 12, to see how everything is coming along." Dr. Green, said as Dr. Summers and her resident prep all the tests.
I tried to have a conversation with the Chief while they ran the tests, but it didn't really work out since Dr. Summers needed silence "the whole time".
However, when they were prepping the next test, I was able to slip in a question.
"What am I supposed to do about my dental classes?" I really hated missing classes, especially classes that are vital in my career.
"I told you they've been handled. Dr. Clemens was understanding." He responded back, suspiciously. Dr. Clemens is not "understanding", but that seems all that the Chief was going to say.
The tests took about about an hour and Dr. Matthews, in her very chirpy voice, said that I would get the results tomorrow.
I had about half an hour before I had scans so I just scrolled through my social media, even though none of it was interesting.
However, some of my fellow dentist students posts' made me realize that I missed the scheduled clinic day, which was today, just another thing to make up and for Dr. Clemens to get mad about me missing. Since the dental clinic is part of the hospital, I really hope nobody from my dental classes sees me in here.
Eventually, Bryan (uh, yeah, Bryan) walks into my room with a wheelchair.
"The Chief told me to come get you for your scans." He said as he wheeled the wheelchair next to my bed.
"He also said to tell you to be super careful in moving...so if you need to lean on me support, you can." He offered, but I immediately rejected it.
"I'll be fine." I said as I tried to stand up from my bed, but immediately felt my headache come back and I felt weak which ended up in me falling right back down on my bed.
So when Bryan offered his arm as support, I reluctantly took it, but yet I was able to get into the wheelchair.
I mumbled a quick "thank you" to Bryan during our journey downstairs to radiology, but I don't know if he noticed because he didn't say anything, which I was beyond grateful for.
He wheeled me into the familiar MRI that I've been into before, doing the same routine and letting me listen to music.
Half an hour later, the obnoxious noises came to an end and the bed came out of the scanner. I felt too weak to get into the wheelchair so I just laid up in the bed and watched the Chief, Dr. Green, and Bryan discuss something on the computer in the room in front of me.
Thankfully, the Chief walked with Bryan and I back to my room, making it much less awkward.
The Chief helped me get back into my bed this time.
As I was situated and comfortable, Bryan took the wheelchair back and the Chief picked up my arm, inspecting the big bruise that was still on my arm.
"Next time I come back, if that doesn't clear up, I'm going to have to put a new IV in your right arm." He said before he left, internally making me cringe because of the thought of more needles.
After getting bored out of my mind on my phone, I just decided to go to sleep, and hoping that my bruise went away with rest. I really don't want another needle in my arm.
