Chief's POV
The new random ("visiting") doctor, who I now realize is Dr. Rebecca Ranson, and I watched as Noah's CT scans uploaded on the computer. We both closely look at them with the radiologist sitting a few computers down, looking at them too.
"He has a pretty bed concussion but no brain bleed, that's good. I think the only real problem is his hand, do you have a Chief of orthopedics to do his surgery?" Dr. Ranson asked.
"Of course I have a chief of orthopedics to do his surgery, I'll page him right now. He'll have to get an x-ray of his hand while he's in the OR, since he's barely staying awake." I said as I got up and went to go get Noah out of CT, as well as paging 911 to Dr. Mullins to OR 4.
Multiple nurses moved Noah to the OR, and Dr. Ranson started to follow me.
"I think your privileges are not needed here, Dr. Ranson." I spoke as I stopped and turned around to face her.
"Dr. Williamson, I beg to differ. This young man had a severe heart condition when he was younger that I'm sure will impact his surgery right now. I have to make sure that his heart can withstand this surgery, I'll just sit and monitor it, no interference or anything." Dr. Ranson said, trying to reason with me.
I reluctantly agreed and we headed towards the scrub room that was attached to OR 4.
As Dr. Ranson and I got to the scrub room, Dr. Mullins was already scrubbing in.
"What do we have?" Dr. Mullins asked as we all began to scrub in.
"Shattered hand, we're going to need to take an x-ray before we start, we barely got a CT in. And he's a dental student so he's going to need to have complete control of his hand with no tremors, you know the drill." I said, advising him on the situation.
"Okay, let's do this." Dr. Mullins said as we exited the scrub room and found a nurse to help with gowns.
"No gown for her." I reminded Dr. Ranson and the nurse that helped her get into her pair of gloves.
When I was fully covered and ready, I walked over to Noah, who's banana bag was empty and he was sober enough so that the alcohol consumption wouldn't mess up his anesthesia.
"Okay Noah, you can take that nap you wanted, now." I said as the anesthesiologist put the mask over his face and he began to fall asleep.
Dr. Ranson found a seat next to Noah's heart monitor and I found my way next to Dr. Mullins who was right at Noah's hand.
"Alright everybody, let's save this young man's future."
