"You're kidding, right?" I asked while slowly backing up towards the door.
"Come have a seat, Willow." My uncle suggested as he patted the dental chair.
I shook my head no while still backing up towards the door, when I saw the wall out of the corner of my eye, I turned around. But instead of coming in contact with the door, I came in contact with a very tall and sturdy chest.
I suddenly backed up, unsure of who this random guy was that I just bumped into.
But by the time I backed up, I was already far away enough from the door that I was basically next to the dental chair.
As the blondie came closer, I slowly backed away even more, going to where Noah was in the corner.
My uncle stood up to greet the random guy, as I just stood in Noah's arms in shock.
"Hey, Dr. Finnegan. Sorry that I had to call you in on such short notice." My uncle apologized while he moved a rolly chair next to his, I'm guessing for this random guy.
"No worries, I'll do whatever I can to help someone with their dental health. I'm guessing this is the famous Willow, my favorite patient of the day." This guy said, directing his attention towards me.
This guy has got to be kidding me.
I watched as he slowly walked over to me with his hand extended for me to shake.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Patrick Finnegan, this office's best oral surgeon." He jokingly said as I rejected his hand shake and just looked from his face to his hand, definitely not wanting to shake his hand.
He awkwardly took his hand back and looked towards my uncle.
"So we're extracting someone's wisdom teeth today, yeah?" He asked but I totally zoned out from listening to anything he's saying.
I didn't want to listen to anything else this guy was saying so I just leaned back into Noah out of fear.
Dr. Finnegan continued to talk with my uncle and they looked at my x-rays.
I just absorbed myself into Noah, really not wanting this to happen.
"Did you eat breakfast babe?" Noah asked as his emerald green eyes looked down into mine.
"Yeah." I sadly responded, knowing that that meant that I couldn't be put to sleep for the wisdom teeth surgery.
Which was making this even better.
"You'll be fine before I fill your cavity with Clemens. Also at least Clemens won't acknowledge that you need your wisdom teeth removed." Noah said, trying to make me feel better.
"Babe, I don't want to do this. I don't want laughing gas. I don't want stitches. I don't want gigantic holes in my mouth. I don't want freaking oral surgery. I don't want to do this." I explained, not wanting to get my dumb wisdom teeth removed.
"You'll be fine, I'll be right next to you the whole time. Especially at the end, when I'll be filming you and your happy little self." Noah joked as my uncle and this Dr. Finnegan weirdo started looking in our direction.
I guess they were waiting on us to stop talking or whatever.
"So you have eaten prior?" Dr. Finnegan asked, in which I simply nodded my head.
"Alright, I'm just going to use local anesthetic then, is that okay?" Dr. Finnegan continued to ask me, I just nodded my head along.
I really didn't want this to happen.
"Do you have any questions, need any explanations?" He asked me, while my uncle looked like he was preparing stuff.
"Sir, I'm a dental student coming from a family of dentists. Obviously, I know how to do a wisdom tooth extraction." I answered with attitude, even though I really shouldn't have because I mean he is the surgeon and I have higher respect for surgeons, but I just don't want to do this.
Dr. Finnegan didn't seem to know what to say with my attitude, so he just slowly nodded his head and seemed kind of offended.
"Alright, well how about you come sit in the chair and I can just take a look before we get this show on the road." He suggested.
I grabbed Noah's hand to ensure that he was right next to me.
I cautiously sat down in the dumb dental chair and immediately got into my nervous habits.
I watched as Dr. Finnegan washed his hands, snapped on a pair of gloves, and tied a mask around his face.
My uncle suddenly appeared out of nowhere and positioned himself next to Dr. Finnegan also wearing gloves and a mask.
I scratched at my palms.
I pulled on my hangnails.
I fiddled with the rings on my fingers and the bracelets on my wrists.
The last time I felt this nervous and vulnerable in front of a dentist, was in front of Dr. Clemens.
I guess I really didn't get over my fear.
