We made our way towards the Chief's office, his assistant sitting outside.

"Oh, Willow. He was so happy that you were able to help him, since his dentist was gone. He's in there, still a little numb though."

"He was good patient." Willow could barely mumble out as she opened the door to the Chief's office.

When the Chief heard his door open, he looked up at us.

"My favorite dentist."

"My favorite patient."

Both Willow and the Chief were very numb and somehow understood the gibberish each other were saying.

The Chief gave Willow a hug, it was a cute moment, seeing both of them with their mouths numb and full of cotton.

"Are you here for anything, like your hand?" The Chief blabbered out.

"No. Willow just wanted to make sure you were okay. And my hand is fine." I said as Willow walked back to me.

I looked down at my phone as Willow and the Chief had a conversation about who knows what.

I swipe through my notifications seeing an announcement from the dental academy.

All grades have been posted by the lecture hall.

"Willow, we have to go."

She didn't hear me.

"Willow!"

She's not paying attention to me. We have to go check our exam grade!

"Willow!"

I finally got her attention as she looked confused at me, considering I just raised my voice at her.

"Dr. Clemens posted our exam grades..."

That was all I had to say before Willow was saying bye to the Chief and heading out of the hospital.

We basically ran over to the dental academy.

Neither of us saying a word the entire time.

When we got to the lecture hall, there was a whole cluster of students surrounding a wall.

It was all of our classmates hoping that we all passed our practical exams. I'm sure none of us want to take the 300 question exam unless we had to.

This was the biggest moment of our whole careers.

Willow and I shoved our way through the cluster, losing each other for a second but when we reached the wall we ended up together, side by side.

There was two papers taped to the wall.

The list organized by appointment times.

Willow's and I times were on the second sheet.

I look to Willow's appointment time and name first.

See me in my exam room.

That can't be good.

I don't know if Willow even saw it yet.

I went down one slot to my time and name and saw the exact same thing.

See me in my exam room.

I looked at all the other names, some seeing pass, mostly seeing fail, but only seeing a couple other saying See me in my exam room.

There was an asterisk at the bottom of the paper mentioning that everyone who failed must take the written exam.

I move out of the chaos and go stand next to a nearby wall waiting for Willow to leave the chaos.

I watch her as she drags her feet, her whole body language is showing disappointment.

"It can't be anything that bad. Let's go find out."

Willow just nodded her head.

She took my hand and started walking towards the clinic to see Dr. Clemens.

I have no idea what he's going to say.

Willow was still silent the entire 5 minute walk to the clinic.

I knew she was disappointed, I am too. But all we can do is see what Dr. Clemens says.

The doors to the clinic were unlocked but no one was inside, it looked closed from afar.

Willow and I made our way to the back to Dr. Clemens exam room.

She quietly knocked on the door, her hand shaking full of anxiety and worry.

Willow opened the door to reveal Dr. Clemens sitting in the dental chair.

"I thought you guys would never show. Come in, come in."

He stood up and moved out of the way, he shut the door behind us and locked it.

"Ms. Samuels, why don't you have a seat?"

Willow didn't move. She stood exactly right in front of me, looking at Dr. Clemens like he was crazy.

"I'm just going to look. I want to make sure that I can pass you and not have to worry." He said, showing a mischievous grin.

"'Mr. Gray, since I knew you would be with Ms. Samuels, I never told you that you passed. It was one final joke before you graduated. So congratulations."

I passed and he wanted to make me worry, for no reason.

I wasn't really worried, I was more worried about Willow, but that was a cheap shot just to make me feel bad and contemplate everything.

Dr. Clemens was the absolute worst professor ever, but at least I've passed and can finally become a dentist.

But now, all that's left is Willow, who still hasn't made a single move.

"Ms. Samuels, if you will sit please so I can just give you a checkup and then pass you. It's real simple, just have a seat and don't freak out."

Willow took one step towards the chair, taking one step towards the chair that started it all.

I'll never forget the first time that I was working the clinic, and Dr. Clemens mysteriously pulled me from a patient.

I was thankful because the patient was some sorority girl that thought I was hot when she saw me from afar at one party. She was trying to become a nurse, a slutty nurse for that matter, already sleeping with every guy but me from TDS, the brother fraternity to her sorority.

Thank god Willow requested me, or else that sorority chick would have been trying to jump my bones.

I looked over at Willow, she is so much more relaxed than when the first time I saw her sitting there.

Her hands are clasped together in her lap, to hide the potential for her hands to shake.

She's peacefully staring at the ceiling, that way she doesn't look at anything else, especially Dr. Clemens.

Her legs are crossed, making her feel less vulnerable than when they're laying flat.

She's figured out the perfect way to sit to hide her fear, nothing will give her away, and she'll pass this "checkup test."

We've practiced this.

She can do this.
