All three of us were looking at Noah who was standing in the middle of the doorway.
He looked defeated and I can't help but feel that it was Bryan's presence close to me.
I looked at the Chief and motioned to Bryan with my eyes, hoping he got what I was trying to say.
"Thank you, Dr. Miller for your help." The Chief said with a nod to Bryan as he left.
"And who are you, again?" The Chief asked to Noah.
"Um, Noah Gray, a dental student we talked yesterday, Chief." Noah responded back, almost confidently.
The Chief seemed content with his answer, and continued to tape down and fix my IV.
"Well you can come in." I offered to Noah who was still just standing there at the door.
He walked in but didn't take a seat.
The Chief walked over to my other arm to take the IV out and put a cotton ball and plaster over the spot.
"You know, there's such thing as a seat, Mr. Gray."
"Thank you sir, but I've been sitting all day at the clinic." Noah offered back politely but I've never seen him this awkward.
"I'll check on you later, Ms. Samuels. If you need me, you know what to do, just don't mess with any electrodes." He chuckled before he disposed of his gloves and my old IV and walked out of my room.
Noah handed me the beautiful bouquet of flowers with a card that says "get well".
"Thank you, Noah. So how was the first clinic day?" I asked him to start up conversation and make it much less awkward.
"Uh, it was okay, I guess. I think Dr. Clemens really missed picking on you." He responded back, chuckling, bringing me back to the awful day that Noah helped Dr. Clemens fix my tooth.
"I'm sorry, about earlier, when you walked in. You know needles aren't my strong suit." I apologized to Noah who looked like he understood that situation.
"I understand. I just don't trust that guy, I know him, he used to be in the TDS fraternity. I can't believe he's a radiologist here now." Noah said, showing that he was mad at Bryan and not me.
"Yeah, he's uh, an interesting person." I said not wanting to tell Noah who all my exes were.
There was an awkward silence between us as he just stood there at the foot of my bed.
"Do you wanna watch Netflix with me?" I asked, carefully scooting over in my bed for him to be able sit.
"Sure." He said as he shrugged and sat next to me.
I was happy to be sitting next to Noah, who provided warmth and was super cute to be sitting next to, too bad, we're in a freaking hospital.
We finally decided to watch Identity Thief, it's not my kind of movie but Noah wanted to watch it.
N o a h (earlier)
I was happy to be able to spend time with Willow, especially since she was in a hospital and not able to attend any of our classes.
I was starting to miss seeing her pretty face every day.
Recently, our dental lecture were terrible because Dr. Clemens is such an A$$hole that he found someone else in our class, to be our test dummy since Willow was hospitalized, and you know who he chose: me.
This following week, including today, I will be booked because of my other classes and the clinic days we have to work. I volunteered at the clinic for 3 hours this morning and then went and attended Dr. Clemens torturous lecture.
During the clinic hours, Dr. Clemens observed that some of us were doing numbing injections wrong and that we needed to be taught again, since that's a pretty big deal to be giving injections wrong.
Dr. Clemens had to show the class how to do them properly, on me. So I had 4 different injections in my mouth for some of the different areas that needed to be numbed.
Class was horrid, I hate not being able to control what's happening or even being able to talk. And the needles that Dr. Clemens used, were huge. He could've used smaller ones, I know that he has smaller ones he could've used, but no, use the biggest needle you have to practice injections.
So as class ended today, I had to wait for all the numbing to wear off before I could go and see Willow. I had to sit in the freaking dental chair while Dr. Clemens watched me like a hawk. I mean I usually don't mind dental work and needles or anything but being the test dummy for Dr. Clemens really sucks and hurts like hell.
Anyways, as I was able to finally feel my lip, I rushed out of the lecture hall and straight to Willow.
When I got to the hospital, I ran by the gift shop to get flowers for her. I finally found her room and saw that she was given a new IV by the Chief of Surgery, but she was laying on some other random guy for comfort.
If it wasn't for the freaking class today, I could've been here earlier and I could be that guy. She could be relying on me for comfort.
As I was waiting for the Chief to get done, I began to realize why I remembered those maroon scrubs and that recognizable face.
This dude comforting Willow, is a frat jerk who is now a radiologist apparently.
I remember when I came to get a scan for my anthropology class a few semesters ago he wouldn't stop talking to his "colleagues" about some stupid party he was hosting, I'm happy I wasn't in the TDS fraternity when he was in it, he was a complete jerk.
I realized I was looking sad when Willow noticed me in the doorway of her room.
I just stood there, what was I supposed to do, come into her room uninvited.
Thankfully, the Chief finished up what he was doing and he excused the random frat jerk, thank god.
Now I get to spend time with Willow instead of some former frat creep.
