Everything started happening so fast.
They moved me and my bed down some halls and into a freezing cold room with people all over the place: the Operating theater.
They helped me move onto an even colder bed in the middle of the room and people started to surround me, hooking me up to random things, making me move my head correctly onto the pillow, and putting electrodes on my chest.
I just tried to relax and take deep breaths while nurses and doctors were rushing around me.
I saw the Chief walk in and come towards me.
He patted my shoulder and gave me a smile before nodding to Dr. Haim, who was behind me.
I closed my eyes hoping to block out all of the people, before I get to anxious.
I was concentrating on not freaking out, that I didn't acknowledge the mask that was on my face or the fact that I was starting to get tired.
Next thing I knew, I woke up back in my hospital room. Although, I now have a pounding headache and I'm dying of thirst.
I see the Chief and Noah talking outside of my room and I wanted to signal the Chief, but I didn't know how to.
I noticed the electrodes still on my chest, so I disconnected them, setting off a bunch of machines and causing the Chief and Noah to come running into my room, along with two nurses.
I held the electrodes in my hand and give them to the Chief who, with the assistance of the nurse, helped connect them again, resetting the machines.
"You scared us, we didn't want a repeat." The Chief said, but immediately made a concerned face.
What did he mean by "not wanting a repeat"
I gave him a questioning look but focused back on why I got his attention in the first place.
"I have a headache and my throat is really dry." I managed to croak out, before the Chief relaxed and the nurse left from fixing my electrodes.
"Well other than you complaining, your surgery went well and I got all of it."
He got all of it?!?
I was so happy and relieved that the Chief helped me, I could literally hug him right now.
"Except, there was one slight problem that occurred..." the Chief looked at me with a concerning face.
"In the middle of your surgery, your heart stopped and we had to revive you. Which is why when you took the electrodes off, we thought it happened again."
"So wait, my heart literally stopped beating?!?" I asked, shocked.
I was starting to get anxious and I felt like I was starting to hyperventilate.
"Ms. Samuels, breath. No need to hyperventilate, just take deep breaths." He said calmly as he situated an oxygen mask over my face.
As I had finally calmed down, the Chief started talking again.
"No need to worry about the situation, we will be monitoring you continuously while you're here and even after you leave."
"Wait, how long will I be here?" I asked, not wanting to miss multiple days of school, Dr. Clemens would end me if I missed any of his lectures.
"You are at least staying here tomorrow and maybe the next day, just so that we can monitor you because of the situation."
"Wait, are you going to monitor me or that lame newbie?" I asked, not wanting that random med student to be in charge of my health.
"I'll make sure you have the best care when I'm not around. Okay, do you need anything because you need to sleep off this medicine." The Chief implied, causing me to realize that I was still pretty tired and I still had a headache.
"Can I have something for my headache and water for my throat?" I asked, seeing him immediately get a syringe and a cup and pitcher of water.
He injected a syringe into my IV, while inspecting the bruise that the IV created, making me look at the big and purple bruise on my arm.
"Also, what about my classes?" I managed to mention before he left.
"All has been taken care of." He said as he walked out with a smile.
Within a few minutes, I easily fell asleep.
Throughout the night I was awoken by numerous nurses checking my vitals.
But when morning came, I was so tired from them constantly waking me up, that when the chief walked into my room, he was not very pleased to see my weak (and trying to recover) body so tired and out of energy.
He took control of checking my vitals, so that he could so quietly, which allowed me to sleep.
A few hours later, I was awoken by the Chief just to see him and several other people in various colors of scrubs in my room.
