"Apricot you're taking forever!" I shout from the living room. She's been saying she'll be 5 minutes for the past 15 minutes. April's phone starts ringing, when i see that it's Melanie i pick up and tell her to come to the apartment so we can leave together and not be even more late. I made reservations for 8:15 just in case we were delayed. It's 7:45 now.

After 5 minutes there's a knock on the door, i let Rylan and Melanie in and tell them April wont be long. Melanie sits down and stares at me.

"You have glasses?" She asks.

"It appears so." I joke while tapping the rim of my glasses.

"Xander you need to go grocery shopping. All that's in this fridge is eggs, butter and pickles." Ryland says from the kitchen. I look at him and tell him that I'll go shopping.

I look at Melanie again and she's still staring at me, with a weird look on her face. Before i can ask any questions she speaks,

"Tell me about you."

I laugh and respond, "I'm 27, I own my own company. I-"

"I don't care about that." She interrupts,  "What are your intentions with April? I don't like you Alexander." She says scornfully.

"My intentions are to be her friend and you were acting like you liked me back at your apartment. Why the change of heart." I speak with no emotion in my voice. I don't like this girl.

"I've heard stories about you Reed. After tonight do yourself a favour and leave April alone or I'll tell her what I know."

"You know nothing about me." I growl.

"Do you really want to play this game Reed?"

"I live for the thrill." I reply.

"Hey guys." Aprils voice appears out of no where. I look at her and she looks gorgeous as usual. She's wearing her Louboutin's, black jeans and a loose black blouse with her bag styled as a cross body. She wasn't wearing any makeup besides lip gloss, I could tell because her freckles are showing, and her hair had more defined beach waves as apposed to her natural wavy hair.

"You look hot!" Melanie says with excitement. Fake little b-

"Alex come on." April says while putting her hand out for me to get up. I take it and put my hand on the small of her back while we leave the apartment.

I press the my keys for the Tesla to open and Rylan walks towards it to go to the back.                        "Wait." Melanie says. My eyes roll back before she even says anything else.

"Rylan why don't you sit at the front, me and April will be together at the back." She looks at Rylan like she's begging through her eyes. Rylan just nods and goes to sit at the front.

"Excuse me." April says while walking towards the car. "Rylan get your little butt to the back, Alex is my friend so I sit at the front." April smiles and closes the door once she's seated. I turn around and look at Melanie.

"That's my girl." I say and walk to the drivers seat of the car.

Once Melanie was done sulking about the fact that April didn't listen to her we all got in the car and i start driving. April connects her phone to the blue tooth and plays 'Killer Queen' by Queen and immediately starts singing along to it. She doesn't act embarrassed she continues to just be herself. Everyone else in the car is silent, honestly if it wasn't for the music and April's singing this car ride would be painful. She grabs the hand that i'm not driving with and encourages me to sing with her. When i say no she just uses my hand as a microphone. We stop at a red light and i watch her being so comfortable around me. I don't think I've ever met a girl like April James before.

April sings even louder on the last chorus, "SHE'S A KILLER QUEEEEEEN! GUNPOWDER-"

All of a sudden she stops and frowns, I was enjoying that as much as her. We turn to the back at the same time and see that Melanie has April's phone in her hand. Damn, just because she doesn't like me doesn't mean she has to ruin April's fun.

"I think that's enough of whatever that music was." Melanie says with a disgusted look on her face. April simply nods and takes her phone back. What kind of friendship is this?

I decide to quickly pull out my phone and put the song back on before the light turns green. It starts playing through the speakers and I sing with it. April looks at me with surprise along with Melanie. I smirk at Melanie and smile at April and we sing the rest of the song together.
