When the unexpected became the inevitable

Chapter 16

April walks out of the restaurant and yells the infamous 'put it on my tab line'. I see her through the double doors and contemplate if I should follow her or not. I decide against it so she has time to blow off some steam. Melanie turns around to face me and Rylan, she looks pissed and very very wet. Her eyes were black from the drink mixing with her make up and her white dress was soaked. 

"YOU ARSEHOLE IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" Melanie screeches at me. She tries to hit me but Rylan stands in front of me and takes it instead.  

"Melanie I don't know why you and April just argued but what I did make out of your conversation was that you spoke about someones death. Someone obviously important to her. How would you like it if April threw Dads death in our face. You both need to apologise to each other because both of you said hurtful things. But you didn't care about anything she said even if it was true which is messed up. I don't know April but I will get to know her because we are going to be working together whether you like it or not. As your older brother I'm telling you now tomorrow you need to look for your job. April was nice enough to pay for you living but I'm not."

 Rylan speaks load enough so only myself, him and Melanie can hear.

 "Xander I'm sorry about this. We'll take a cab home but I'll see you around." I nod at Rylan and watch him and Melanie leave the restaurant. 

I go and find Luigi and pay for any broken glasses and a dry cleaning bill for the ruined seat covers.   

  " April's room mate!" Luigi calls before I leave the restaurant.     

"Yes." I respond.                 

"Take care of April. She is what you say? Lonely."        

"I will, take care Luigi." I pat his back and go outside to look for April.

I circle the car park and go onto the street but can't find her at all. Then I get a text.      

APRIL: home?          

ME: on my way.
