Task Two: It Came From Space

Newspapers circulate the  nation. Each one is different, of course, but the stories look the  same: different disasters and tragedies, sports news, and a few cute  stories to make the world seem less dark. But all of them have a story  that looks something like this:

IN MEMORIAM

Three members from the  team of fifteen sent down for the exploration of Area 51 passed away  last night. Although the office of President Finch could not tell us  why, they assure us that it is more likely to be due to the conditions  than to anything of supernatural causation. Our thoughts go to the  friends and family of the deceased.

During the night, the  bodies have disappeared into nothingness. Nobody knows why or where they  went, but there is no denying that there are only twelve of them.

The area, which had  already looked sinister on its own, seems darker now that death has  happened in it. The hallways stretch for rows after rows, making a maze  out of the great unknown. Occasionally there are shelves where artifacts  are stored, but for the most part the entrance hall gives an  overwhelming feeling of emptiness.

But that won't last for very long.

THE TASK:

- You are to split up  into small groups and investigate further into the arena. While there,  you must discover a creature/artifact of your own creation
- The  goal of this task is twofold: to test your creativity, and to test your  characterization skills. I'd recommend putting a fair bit of thought  into your discovery, because if you have the same one as another person  (or as the one I have planned for later), you will be losing points.

ON VOTING: The  three weakest entries will go up for votes. Two of those will die. Once  again, the three strongest entries will be given a chance to win over a  bye. Maria Thisbe [5] won this task's bye, she will not be eligible for  any other ones.
