District One - Eoghan Monteligneau

"Name, state your full name, please."

"You already know my  name. It's Eoghan. Oh-win," I said. "Eoghan Tomas Montelingeau." The man  across from me set his light eyes on the clipboard he was holding. I  tried to look over onto the paper in the clipboard for the man's name.  It had escaped my mind. But the man kept turning the board away from my  view.

"Yes, Oh-in," my stomach curdled at the sound of my name butchered against his sharp accent. "And you were born?"

" On June twenty-first, the day after my brother's birthday."

"Oh, yes." The man lifted the top sheet of paper and jotted something down.

"And what is it you wish?"

I stared at him with  blank eyes. The man sank down into his chair and crossed a leg over his  knee, his pen tapping against his orange pants. "Tell me Oh-in, what  does your heart desire?"

I stared down at my feet and bit my lip. "Why?" I whispered.

"Pardon me?"

I furrowed my brow. "Why  do you keep asking me the same thing over and over? You want to catch  me in a lie? Is that it?" I looked up at him; his pen feverishly writing  notes. Once he finished he looked at me.'

"We just want to be sure that this is what you want." I crossed my arms and rested my elbows on my knees.

"I told you, I want my brother back. I want a search party to fin my brother, Tavish."

"And why is that?"

I looked up at him in disbelief. "He's my brother, why wouldn't I want him back?"

The man raised an  eyebrow. I swallowed hard. The wicked look in his eyes sad something  more fearful than the words would have; he knew something, and he knew I  was not going to tell him. The man straightened from his slouch and  clasped his hands around his knee.

"Of course, he's family.  You love him, and you would never do anything to harm him, correct? I  bet you would never wish anything bad upon him."

I sat on my hands trying not to make eye contact with him, but I could feel his piercing gaze on me waiting for an answer.

"Is that correct, Oh-in?"

I swallowed. "Yes." My  voice came out more fearful than I intended it to be. He knew I was  lying. He kept his focus on me. I clenched my hands into fists under my  thighs, digging my nails into my palms.

"Was Tavish your only sibling Oh-in?"

I rubbed the back of my  neck. Sweat began to run from my forehead. Then, I looked at him. His  gazed pierced my heart, and my stomach churned. I crossed my legs and  held myself. I broke.

"No, he's not," I whispered. I could feel the tears welling in my eyes. I looked away. The man scribbled something in his notes.

"Who was she?"

I met his gaze once again, but this time with curiosity.

"H-how do you know?" he  didn't answer. I looked back down at my shoes. "Her name was," I  swallowed. I could feel the pain in my chest just by thinking of her. I  looked up at the man. He tapped the pen against the arm of the chair. I  took a deep breath.

"Her name was Ailish. She-," I choked on a breath. "She was my sister."

"And what happened to her?"
