Name: Maria [Marie] Thisbe
Age: 27
Physical Description: Fair skin is free of her teen blemishes, and Marie must say that's her one defining trait. Curly light brown hair with natural blonde highlights fall just below her slim shoulders, but she often keeps it tucked up and away from her face. She stands at a hearty 5'6", and while not entirely towering, she seems far lankier due to her small frame, often due to the limited time for meals when she was in her schooling. Dark brown eyes are often hidden behind her glasses, and she has a bright smile often held solely for exciting prospects rather than menial matters. She always seems to be in the middle of thinking, and is often seen with a canvas tote rather than a purse.
Personality: Ever since Marie was young, she found herself yearning for adventure. An inquisitive mind surrounded by those who pushed her in her endeavors, she found solace in knowing she could experiment with whatever she pleased and not be reprimanded. Still, she was quiet, preferring the company of books or her family than the prospects of introducing herself to the much louder and rowdier group that was her peers. Once she reached University, however, she opened up more, finding her voice and actively participating in debates or things that piqued her interest. Though often feeling that inadequacy plagues her, she also has a tendency to be rash when it comes to eliminating such inadequacy, causing sudden actions that she often questions later. Still, however, she's intelligent and she feels the need to build loyalty with other people even if it causes her strife. Recently she's become increasingly anxious to complete something in her life.
Brief Background: Growing up with a pair of teachers as parents, she was never far from schoolwork. From an early age she was adept at her studies and though she coursed through her years in school, she found herself alone for much of school, until high school when she found a group of like-minded kids. The trio went their different ways, however, once University hit, and Marie was once more left alone and she suddenly found herself with challenges unfaced in her previous years.
Her parents, Jane and Matthew, both supported her endeavors, and Marie has a young brother, Christopher, 18 now, who is currently entering University for molecular biology. It is for this reason, Marie is happy for, that her schooling is now entirely finished.
She attended the University of Michigan to complete her BSc in Astrophysics, and later received her Masters before she spent a summer in France as an intern at the Paris Observatory. She completed her PhD last June and relocated to Washington D.C., with her family living in Michigan still. In Washington, she's found work at the Observatory there, but has found recently the work is dragging her down and causing her to question her pathway in life. While she was in France she developed an appreciation for other female scientists, notably Marie Curie, whom she feels she should try to embody as she finds their similar names should drive her to become a better scientist rather than having a simple job at an observatory.
Why they signed up: Her need for adventure as her life has increasingly been filled with worrying thoughts about her future. She wants to do something with her life, to discover something large, and as she currently is not publishing in theoretical space-time physics journals, she feels compelled to attempt something else.Anything Else: She lives in a flat above a bakery shop with her cat Puddles.
