Noticing the expression on Zachary’s face, Oliver raised his hands and quickly backtracked a bit. “Oh, no! I didn’t mean that to be degrading!” He apologized, smiling empathetically. “Actually, I think that’s exactly why the bond you and Dakota share is so strong.” The blonde stated, earning a few intrigued looks from the other wolves in the room. “What’re you blabbering on about?” Red asked, her tone of voice surprisingly interested despite her choice of words. “Think about it. Werewolves aren’t really purebreds to begin with. Even if our heritage is uninterrupted and we only mate with our own kind, there’s always going to be that one part of us that’s human. It dates back to our oldest ancestors; half man, half beast.” Oliver explained, looking between everyone in the room. Leaning forward, Dakota propped his elbows on his knees and rested his chin in his clasped hands as he listened to his packmate. “If Zachary was a pure blood, then it’s my theory that your compatibility wouldn’t of been as great as it is right now. But since he was once human...” Oliver trailed off, tilting his head in interest as he gazed at the vampire. “...Our bodies were able to read each other properly, without the complications of most interspecies mating.” The brunette finished for his subordinate, earning an eager nod from the other male. “Yes, exactly!” Oliver concluded, smiling widely. “It’s just a theory, but it’s fascinating to think about.” “Not everyone is going to think that way.” Red interrupted, not sounding as though she were attempting to squash the pleasant mood in the room, but more so bring everyone back down to reality. “Our elders aren’t going to like this no matter if the bloods-... Zachary was human once or not. He’s a vampire /now/, and that’s all they’re going to see.” She sighed, running a hand through her crazy red hair. Sighing along with her and shooting a dejected look towards the floor, Oliver crossed his arms over his chest in contemplation. “Yeah... You might be right about that.” The blonde reluctantly agreed, sinking down a bit in his chair and watching with slightly hopeful eyes as Dakota raised up from his spot on the couch. “Red is right. Change isn’t something our people take kindly to, and convincing them otherwise isn’t going to be easy.” The young alpha agreed, making his way into the kitchen to make himself a second drink, the first one having been stolen by a certain someone. “But you two stayed and listened, so I have to believe that the rest of our pack will, too.” The brunette sighed, making three other drinks before bringing the items with him back into the living room.
