Taehyung POV

How do people measure love?

In quantities? In a cup of coffee, in a bed, in a million dollar jet?

By weight? As light as a butterfly, or as heavy as an elephant?

I'd never thought much of love before. As a mathematical person, love was nothing but numbers and complicated equations. Falling in love was too hard.

Until I met the boy on the subway.

And he saved me from walking straight onto the train track.

And he asked me out for lunch.

And then we became friends.

Best friends.

And maybe, just maybe, I wished for more.

🌙

I had avoided Jungkook for weeks after the rumours.

Lalisa Maloban, the new transfer student, had hooked up with Jeon Jungkook, the most popular guy in school.

It was a party, and there was a lot of drinking, empty rooms with beds.

Or so I've heard.

And Jungkook apparently confirmed it.

And apparently, my heart couldn't take it, as I broke down with a fever the next day. I watched in heartbreak as my phone rang, stopped ringing, and flashed with another missed call notification from 'Kookie💜'.

I turned away from my phone, and buried my sweltering face into my pillow. My forehead was burning up, and my chest felt like someone had stabbed me with a metal pole.

Why was this a big deal for me?

Why was I upset?

If anything, I should've been happy for him. Lisa was a nice girl.

My fists clenched unconsciously at the thought of Jungkook and her. I... I just didn't like then together.

The doorbell rang, and I groaned. Who was that asshole now?!

"Taehyung?"

It was that asshole.

Out of all the people that could be outside my door, the one I least wanted to see was Jeon Jungkook.

I pressed my lips into a tight line as a tried to stay as silent as possible.

There was a shuffle, and then footsteps. I heaved a sigh.

Then my phone rang. Loudly. Blaring one of Jungkook's cover songs.

I winced.

"Taehyung, I know you're in there."

I called out weakly.

"Door's unlocked."

The door threw open with a bang, and a familiar figure in loose sweatpants, and oversized t shirt and Timberlands rushed in.

He threw himself at me, in a tight hug. I didn't hug back.

He collapsed into the bed beside me.

"My god, Taehyung," Jungkook sighed. "I was so worried about you."

I turned away, on my sides, to avoid his angel eyes. I knew I'd hopelessly melt if I took one look at him.

He waited for a response, and when he didn't get one, he poked my back gently.
