Taehyung POV

Being at sea reminds me of my childhood. Father teaching my sisters and I how to swim by throwing us into the water. The excitement when we spotted dolphins chittering by the port side.

"How are the winds looking today, Yoongi?" I call out to the brunette boy.

"A little strange, but nothing too big of a problem," He answers, rolling up a pile of rope. "Coming in from the West."

I tap the ship's mast thoughtfully. "The west, you say?"

"To be honest with you Captain, I don't like it," Namjoon frowns down from the crow's nest. "My gut's gone all funny since this morning, and I always trust my gut."

I peer down at the waves. They're a lighter shade of blue today, almost turquoise. The seafoam crashes against the side of the ship, rippling out white bubbles. A few drops splash onto my hand. They're awkwardly warm.

"Stay vigilant then," I appoint, wiping my hands on my shirt. "Be prepared to turn around if the course gets rough."

I position myself, like all captains should, at the ship's mast. There, I sip rum and read a book: The Wonders of the Waters. One I had read many times, but I heavily adore. A light breeze brushes through my hair, and I touch the spilt ends self consciously. Maybe I should dye it red again.

"Captain!"

I turn to find Yoongi, face showing signs of panic. He wipes his sweating brow, and says, "Something's pushing us against the current."

I hop off my seat and lean over the edge of the ship. Indeed, the ship is moving irregularly. I run over to the steering wheel, but it doesn't budge.

"Did something get caught in the mechanism?" I ask.

"I sent Hoseok down to check," Yoongi replies quickly. On cue, Hoseok rushes to us, shaking his head.

"There's nothing wrong."

I bite my lip, trying to pinpoint the problem.

"Namjoon, where are we?" I ask, as he climbs down from his spot.

"I'm not sure," He says truthfully. "Somewhere along the north-west of the Aegan Sea."

I groan, frustrated.

"Any ideas on what could be causing this?"

Namjoon looks uncomfortable, like he has something to say.

"Captain, this may sound a little farfetched," He says slowly. "But I'd say there are sirens out here."

I burst into laughter.

"Sirens? Don't be ridiculous."

Then I catch sight of all the crew members. They all look uneasy.

"It isn't a joke," Yoongi says, tone a little urgent. "They're powerful creatures, that take shape of the one thing you desire the most. And then..." He swipes his hand along his neck, in a cutting motion.

I exhale briefly, and nod. I'm about to give out further commands, when suddenly the ship crashes against a platoon of rocks. I stumble, and fall onto my knees.

"Survey the damage!" I yell out to Namjoon, who has rushed over to the side of the ship.

"There's no damage!" He calls back, tone full of confusion and fear. "No wreckage!"
