"Seriously??"
Hyun-Ji's shoulders slumped. On the door of the gamer cafe read a sign in big letters 'Closed for Private Party'.
"Who the hell rents an entire building for a party?" She whined.
Jungkook shrugged. "I don't know. Sounds like something an idol would do." He looked over at her. She looked more distraught than he thought she should have been. "There's another cafe not too far from here. We could catch the next bus and be there in about a half-hour."
She shook her head. "Nah. That one sucks." She sighed. "And I'm... kinda banned from there." She mumbled.
"How did you-"
"Long story." She interrupted, then sighed again. "I guess I'll go home then. I'll see you Monday."
Jungkook bit his lip while watching her walk away. "Hey!" He called behind her. "I know something else we could do."
Hyun-Ji tilted her head. "What do you have in mind?"
"I have a couple of consoles at my house. I don't have LoL but I'm sure I'll have something you might want to play."
The offer was tempting. Plus the thought of being at her house any longer than necessary was anxiety-inducing. "Your parents won't mind?" She asked.
"No. I have friends over all the time. Taehyung is always there in the fridge. My mom makes extra plates of food for him now."
She thought it over for a moment. The last time she was there...
No. This time will be different.
Hyun-Ji smiled and nodded. "Ok. Let's go then."

"Mom! I have company!" Jungkook yelled as he walked into the house with Hyun-Ji following closely behind. "Come on. It's set up downstairs."
Jungkook turned on a couple of light switches as they descended the stairs, filling the family room with warm lighting. A plush looking sectional sofa faced a projector screen that took up most of the far wall. Shelving units were on either side of the screen housing the consoles, games, and a couple of photos of a very young-looking Jungkook.
"I would never leave this room!" Hyun-Ji marveled. "Why do you even bother coming to the cafe?"
Jungkook smiled shyly while turning on the projector.
Because I go to spend time with you. "I like the change in scenery." He said instead. "Are you hungry?"
Hyun-Ji nodded. "A little."
"Ok. I'll go get us something. Pick out what you want to play." He said, pointing to the countless disks and cartridges on the shelves.
Jungkook took the stairs two and a time and went in search of his mother. "Mom! Hello?" He called out.
No answer.
