As promised, Jungkook took Hyun-Ji home straight away. The ride there was a quiet one, and Jungkook had to actively fight the urge to reach for her hand as he drove like he usually did when they traveled together.

He parked in front of her house sometime later, neither one making the first move to leave the other's presence despite it being so early in the morning.

"Thank you again," she said. "I appreciate you coming out this late. I know you're tired."

He looked tired. His eyes were puffy with dark circles underneath them. At least they were fully open back at the hospital. Right now they were only halfway.

"Stop thanking me for doing my job," he smiled, holding her gaze until he yawned.

Hyun-Ji frowned. "Are you ok to drive? I don't want you to fall asleep behind the wheel."

"Aww. You're worried about me?" He teased.

"Yes."

Her serious expression sobered him. "I'm fine, Hyun-Ji. I'll make it. I'll even text you when I get there."

He wasn't fine. The surge of adrenaline that carried him to the hospital had long since abated, and his remaining energy was spent making sure he delivered her home safely. Now that she was safe, he was crashing hard.

Hyun-Ji wasn't convinced. "Stay and nap for a while."

Jungkook breathed out a laugh, touched by her concern. "No, Hyun-Ji. Really, I'm fine." He stifled another yawn as soon as the words left his mouth.

Her expression had gone from concerned to scared. "Jungkook, please? Just for an hour or two? I won't be able to sleep if you drive like this."

He paused, considering her tempting offer. "Just for an hour?"

Hyun-Ji nodded. "Just for an hour."

With exhaustion quickly consuming him, Jungkook conceded, following her inside and up to her bedroom. He quietly closed the door behind him, then turned to see her already removing her sweats and his hoodie. Her clothing underneath was much more revealing, leaving her body mostly exposed to him.

Until earlier in the hospital, he hadn't seen this much of her in so long. He missed her so badly that he didn't trust himself in the slightest.

"I should probably sleep downstairs," he said, quickly reaching for the doorknob.

"No. Stay," she whined, grabbing his wrist.

Don't touch me. Please.

"It's fine if you sleep here. Everyone knows who you are. No one will be upset if you're in here," she said.

That's not what I'm worried about.
"Ok."

He stood immobile, watching her climb into bed and get comfortable. "Do you have enough pillows?" He quipped to distract himself from his thoughts.

"Just get in the bed," she chuckled, looking sleepier by the second.

Jungkook gulped and took off his jacket and turned off the light. Deciding against undressing from his t-shirt and basketball shorts, he got into bed beside her for the first time since before he went to Seoul. He lay on his back and stared at her ceiling, his mind suddenly finding the energy to keep his eyes open.
