"Make sure you support her head."
Jungkook carefully picked Hyori up from his mother's arms, making sure to support her tiny frame, just as his mother said.
"Mom, I got it," he chuckled.
"You've been a father for what, all of four days? You think you know everything already?" She smiled.
He merely breathed out a laugh and gingerly placed her on his shoulder, his movements slow and cautious as if she were a priceless crystal that he was afraid to break.
Because in his eyes, she was.
Haneul watched him gently sway her back and forth, his large hand rubbing her back to soothe her, his cheek touching her head ever so gently because he was afraid of pressing against her too hard.
Fatherhood suited him.
Her son was all grown up.
She stood from her seat on the couch and rested a hand on both her son and her granddaughter. Standing on her tiptoes, she kissed him on the cheek, then his daughter on hers.
"I love you, Kookie."
"I love you too, mom," he smiled.
She smoothed his hair down before asking, "Are you hungry? It's about lunchtime."
Was it really? His days and nights all ran together now with Hyori dictating when he slept. It was only by the blessing called his parents that he and Hyun-Ji could even shower, she was so demanding.
He shook his head. "Not really, but Hyun-Ji might be. I'll go ask her."
"You need to eat, Kookie," she scolded.
"Yes, ma'am," he said over his shoulder.
"Come on, Angel," he said to Hyori, heading towards the stairs. "Let's see what mommy is doing. Is she still sleeping? Huh? Is mommy still sleeping?"
Haneul giggled at her son. He was doing the high-pitched parent voice without realizing it.

"Hey, beautiful," he smiled, peeking into the bedroom.
"Hi, handsome," she smiled back.
Hyun-Ji was in the process of sitting up in their bed. He came over and helped her adjust the pillows behind her with one hand, still holding Hyori on his shoulder with the other.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, sitting down next to her.
"Better. Thanks for letting me sleep. I was so tired I felt like crying. I'll make it up to you."
He smiled and shook his head. "I'm fine, Princess. I just wanted you to rest."
The dark circles under his heavy eyes, along with the disheveled hair that she was sure hasn't seen a brush in at least a day, said otherwise.
But he looked so happy.
She finger-combed through his unruly locks, making them look closer to their norm, and he closed his eyes and hummed contentedly at the feel of her hand in his hair. Her gentle ministrations made his scalp tingle, turning him into a puddle of jelly until soft crying on his shoulder broke him out of his trance.
