Hyun-Ji zipped up her graduation robe and adjusted it over her swollen belly. Areum soon joined her, having found safety pins to attach the gold cord denoting her academic achievement to her robe so that it wouldn't fall off. After some trial and error, she got it in place and took a step back to look at her daughter, who had just put on her graduation cap.
"I'm so proud of you, baby," Areum said, her voice wavering. "You've been through so much this school year. You could have given up, but you didn't. You made it."
"Mom..." Hyun-Ji's heart swelled, and she looked up and fanned her eyes in an attempt to dry them before the tears fell and ruined the makeup that Haneul had given her. Mother and daughter embraced, breathing a collective sigh of relief that this day had finally come.
"Thank you, mom. For everything."
"You're welcome, baby." Areum kissed her on the cheek and moved the tassel on her cap to the correct side. "Ready to go?"
Hyun-Ji smiled. "Ready."

Jungkook and his parents walked towards the nearby college auditorium, stopping briefly to greet Taehyung and his family, including his younger brothers, who looked all too thrilled to be dressed in suits on a summer day.
"Four long years finally over!" Taehyung said while pulling Jungkook into a tight hug.
"Yeah, and onto another four," Jungkook laughed.
"Maybe for you. I'm off to Paris."
"I'm not jealous at all." Jungkook pouted. The loss of his parent-funded European vacation due to his unplanned fatherhood was still fresh in his memory.
Taehyung motioned with his head. "There's the hedgehog."
Jungkook spun around to see Hyun-Ji approaching with her mother, both wearing identical smiles.
He mirrored her expression and went to her, embracing her tightly before pulling back and gazing down at her.
"Hi," he said.
"Hi," she smiled, straightening the red cord he earned from his athletics association over his robe.
They stood in their own world before Taehyung came running up and pulling both of them into a group hug.
"We're finally done! Let's go graduate!" He exclaimed, tugging at Jungkook's robe as he started for the auditorium.
"I guess I'll see you inside," he called behind him as he was dragged away by his boisterous best friend.
"You look beautiful, girlie!" Haneul said, both her and Jungseok taking turns hugging Hyun-Ji and Areum.
"You two are more than welcome to join us for dinner afterward," Jungseok offered.
"We may take you up on that. I'm starving already," she giggled.
"Looking forward to it," he smiled. "We'll see you inside, dear."
