It was finally happening.

Hyun-Ji stared at her bare abdomen in the mirror, turning her body in different directions.

She was starting to show.

It wasn't much: just a tiny bump in her lower abdomen that could honestly be mistaken as mere overindulgence, but it was there. She futilely attempted to hold her stomach in, hoping she could make it appear smaller. That only made it protrude more. It felt like a grapefruit was stuck in her pelvis, and it was only going to get bigger as the weeks progressed.

She sighed and lowered her shirt, still no closer to knowing what to do about her parents. They were still completely ignorant to everything. She wished this was a perfect world, one where she could happily tell her parents about her pregnancy, and they would celebrate the coming arrival of their grandchild. She wished she could proudly show her mother how her body was changing, tell her how she couldn't stop eating weird food combinations when no one was looking. She wished she could share her fears.

She wished she could tell them about Jungkook.

Jungkook. His name left a bittersweet feeling within her.

She had heard plenty enough of his conversation with Sujin. Eavesdropping was never her intention, but her legs wouldn't move when she heard the sound of his voice.

He likes Sujin. It was a crush, even. He never made his growing affections a secret, but it was still painful to hear him admit it. Those were words that he would never say about her outside of a platonic sense.

So ever since that day, Hyun-Ji decided that she would keep her distance from him. She honestly felt like he turned Sujin down because they were pregnant, not because he had underlying feelings elsewhere. It was Sujin that he wanted. Hyun-Ji felt like her presence was causing greater confusion for him, and honestly for her too, so she made herself scarce. It was starting to grow colder anyway, making the courtyard a less than optimal environment, but the cafeteria was still out of the question.

Instead, she claimed Jungkook's sleep corner in the history stacks of the library. It was quiet and warm. Cozy. She imagined this is what a cat felt like when it lay on a warm laptop for a nap. The days were becoming so taxing on her energy that she felt she needed that short nap just to finish the school day. It had only been a week but she had already grown comfortable enough to fall asleep there almost immediately.

Later that day she had hunkered down at the now-familiar table to do just that. She set her alarm on her phone and made sure the ringer was quiet enough to not disturb the peace of the library. She folded her arms on the table and rested her head, and within minutes she was out.

Unbeknownst to her, the exact person she had been avoiding had finally found out her whereabouts. He legitimately came here to sleep on the floor in the corner like usual, only to find a much sweeter discovery.
