"Almost ready?"

Hyun-Ji jumped when Jungkook suddenly opened their bedroom door and poked his head in.

"Almost. Give me maybe five minutes?"

"Sure," he smiled. "Take your time. I'm going to go start the car. Ok?"

Hyun-Ji smiled back. "Ok."

He lingered for a moment before closing the door again. As soon as he was gone her smile fell and her posture deflated. Tonight was date night, first date night to be exact, and Hyun-Ji's nerves were getting to her. She shook out her hands and took several deep breaths, then continued applying her makeup.

Which wasn't much. She had exactly one eyeshadow palette, mascara, and lip tint. She cursed herself for not exploring the world of makeup more before a critical moment like this. It was her first date and she was going to look like a pregnant potato.

After doing the best she could with her face, she made sure her outfit looked ok. Her jeans were pretty much useless now so she lived in leggings. She paired them with one of his knit sweaters. His clothes were so much more comfortable, but the arms were so long she had sweater paws.

Her phone pinging caught her attention and she picked it up to see a text from Jungkook.

💜Jungkookie💜: (Can you open the door please? I locked myself out 🥺)

Just as she was going to text back, the doorbell rang. Hyun-Ji laughed at his impatience and decided to tell him how stupid he was in person. She took one last look in the mirror and went to the door, a snarky grin on her face.

"Only dumbasses lock themselves out of the....."

".....house."

"Hi, Princess."

Jungkook stood on the other side of the threshold, the sun behind him turning his hair a soft shade of auburn, his almond shaped eyes sparkling, pulling her in and drowning her in their depths as if this were her first time looking into them.

In his hand was a small bouquet of flowers secured together with a ribbon.

"Jungkook..."

"For you," he said, extending the delicate flowers to her.

The shock melted from her face, and her smile blossomed like the petals of a lily. The corners of her mouth lifted slowly, her cheeks rounding into mochi-like peaks, unshed tears reflecting in her waterline.
