Jungkook walked with muted footsteps through the hallways of the professional building, checking his phone to make sure he went to the correct suite number. It didn't take long before he found the solid wooden door of his destination:
Jung Hoseok, LCPC
Counseling and Mental Health Therapist
He turned the handle and walked into the simply decorated office where a receptionist greeted him. Soon after he finished his patient questionnaire, the therapist had opened the door to his office and walked out to greet him with a bright disposition and a firm handshake.
"Jungkook, right? Hoseok. Nice to meet you. Come on back."
Hoseok led him to his office which looked more akin to a comfy sitting room than a place where people sought counsel for their cognitive disturbances.
Or anger issues.
Jungkook took a seat on the couch next to a glass patio door and focused his attention on the birds outside flocking around a hanging feeder, while Hoseok took the chair across from him and looked over his questionnaire, his orange hair slightly falling into his eyes and over his glasses.
One minute later, Hoseok looked up from the page and gave Jungkook the largest smile he's ever received. "Jungkook, tell me why you're here today. What do you hope to accomplish in therapy?"
Jungkook took a deep breath and began his story. "I've been having a lot of trouble controlling my anger and it's damaged my relationships with people, especially my ex-girlfriend. I didn't use to be like this, and I don't want to be like this anymore.
"I'm here for help."
Hoseok nodded in understanding. "Well, thank you for coming today. You're a young man, and that shows a lot of maturity to recognize an issue and take that first step to resolve it."
"Thank you," Jungkook said.
"My goals are to help you navigate through what you're feeling, maybe show you some new ways of thinking, and help you get to know yourself more, know why you think and feel the way you do. All of that can help you better manage your anger, hopefully prevent it, or help you to better cope with it."
Jungkook nodded.
For the better part of a half-hour, Jungkook filled Hoseok in on his relationships with his parents and friends, how he felt about his childhood, and how he felt about himself as an individual.
Hoseok leaned back in his chair. "One of the first things I picked up on was you mentioning an ex-girlfriend. She appears to still be in your life?"
"Yes, sir. She's pregnant with my daughter. She's due any day now." Jungkook couldn't hold back his smile at the mention of her.
"Ohhh," Hoseok remarked. "Most people don't regard their ex's with that much positivity. She's still important to you."
"Yes. She means the world to me."
"What's her name?"
"Hyun-Ji."
"And why did you and Hyun-Ji break up?"
