Chapter Seventy Seven | NoblesXChance

As we climbed back over the walls Nun Anna was the first to see us and thoroughly disappointed. She huffed angrily and stormed us inside.

I thought nuns were supposed to be sweet but geez did they seem angry.

We got taken to the priest to repent and confess but Elijah was too stubborn to say anything and isolated for a day to think about what he did.

I felt a little bad. I hadn't tried that hard to stop him.

I knelt before the altar to confess and the priest glared down at me. I'm not sure he meant to glare, I think that was mostly just his resting face.

"I Gilbert confess to temporarily stealing clothes from the village. I confess to fighting a mean rich servant guy. I confess to hurting Elijah's feelings though it vasn't on purpose he's just a whoos. I confess to running from you when you were in town, though you might've known that."

He sighed.

He hadn't seen us which means Elijah freaked out over nothing I guess.

Theft earned me a few 'Hail Mary's and Elijah entered the alter room after me looking none too pleased.

I went to the boys bunk room where the other boys were gathered whispering about something.

"Ja, I heard vhey are in town."

"Can ju believe it vhis is our chance!?"

"Zhe priest vas meeting vith vhem."

"Oi, Vhats going on?" I shouted and they looked at me.

"The Teutonic Knights," dieter exclaimed.

"Vhey're in town!" Helmut finished excitedly.

The twins Claus and Claud held each other's hands anxiously.

"Vhat!? Veally!?" I gasped.

Elijah would be so excited to hear this! Wait till I tell him. He and I can really achieve our dreams!

"But not only vhat, but vhey are also escorting a rich Austrian couple who cane in town just for us!" Claus added.

That got my attention, reminding me of the snoods in town.

"Vait vhy?"

"Vhey want to donate money, probably to make vhem look better, but vhey might adopt one of us, ve just have to impress vhem!" Claus exclaimed.

My eyes lit up.

Elijah come back soon! Just wait till you hear this!

It was late noon. We'd been made to clean the building to make it look extra nice. In my opinion, we should've made it look worse to get more money. I told Nun Anna and she sent me back to the alter for thinking of such a scheme.

I told Elijah what happened, he'd been stuck with many more "hail Mary"s than me for confessing all he'd done. Just what could he have done? He's seven?

Elijah was overjoyed.

We ran around the halls, after cleaning, with our wooden swords. Jumping around battling each other. I pulled off an impressive tumble but Elijah, admittedly more swift and flexible, bested me. I was still more awesome of course. Elijah must have had more practice than me.

I whacked Elijah in the side and he fell. He was staring down the hall and I wonder what food have detracted him and saw Adela.

Of course.

Elijah worshipped the ground she walked on.

Elijah blushed when she waved.

"Hey Adela," I called and Elijah shushed me.
