I remember the day I stood there as darkness surrounded me. I was surrounded by all of my friends as our eyes were glued to giant screen downtown. It was the fight between All For One and All Might. It was revealed that All Might was not a strong person we once saw. He was a skinny, skeletal man. Nonetheless, it was All Might.
"Go, All Might!" I yelled without thinking.
My friends looked at me as I just stared at the screen. Everyone at that point looked over at me.
"Go, All Might, go!!" I yelled again.
"All Might, fight on!" yelled another person.
"All Might!" the entire crowd went on.
"Go, All Might!" I yelled once more before everyone cheered him on. It seemed he heard all of us since he defeated All For One a little while after. Once he was finished, he pointed to the camera and uttered four words.
"Next, it's your turn."
I sighed and looked at everyone. People were speculating it was a message to the villains or it was a message for the next generation of heroes. I knew what it meant. I looked over at Deku. A sad smiled appeared on my face as I looked down at the ground. Now with All Might retired, it was going to be a rough change for everyone.
I walked off of U.A.'s grounds and into the real world. I was now a full licensed hero. I headed into the city and walked around for a bit. Since heroes were only needed when there was trouble, there really was no need for me to be out and around now. However, with more and more villains sprouting out of no where, all of the heroes had to be on alert. There was never a dull moment in a hero's career. Either it be learning from other heroes there is something going on or seeing it first hand. I looked around and some people were looking at me. Some smiled while some asked about my quirk. Oh. Nearly forgot about that.
While some can run fast due to jets being in their legs, have the power to lift any object with anti-gravity, having one side be fire and the other ice, or being able to make anything from their body, I could manipulate light.
It was very useful when I was fighting enemies in the daylight, but when it was dark, I couldn't do much. If there were lights; however, I could use my powers, but they would not be as strong as they would be in natural daylight. U.A. had taught me how to fight with that amount of light to my advantage. All I needed was to blind the enemy long enough to fight them off. That wasn't the only thing I could do with light. I can make it into a weapon.
For a training exercise, I used the sunlight to make a spear. It would pierce the enemy and would then dissolve, making the wound burn with agonizing pain. While it is not the best quirk, it is a quirk I had come to use and grow overtime.
I was sitting outside at a cafe with a drink in between my hands. I looked out among the civilians. It seems they were worried with the new rise of villains. So far, it seemed pretty peaceful out here. I assumed that the League or another villain would cause mass mayhem for the newly licensed heroes since we just came out from U.A. and other hero training schools.
"See anything?"
I looked up and saw Deku.
"Nothing yet," I said.
He sat down with me and looked out into the crowd.
"Yeah, there was nothing much when Todoroki and I headed down towards the other side of the city. The others are saying there is little to no activity. The only activity anyone has seen was Momo and it was just some normal guy trying to rob a bank. She stopped him on the spot and handed him to the police. Other than that, this day has been pretty quiet."
"I assumed there would be something from the League or other villains."
"Did you not hear about the new one?"
"New villain?"
"Apparently the League of Villains tried to get him to work with them. I think he denied them and decided to go on with his own gang of villains."
"Who is he?"
"I think his name is Overhaul. He has a bird like mask. No one really understands his quirk right now since no one has really seen him."
I took a mental note about that, "I see."
"Yeah. Be on the look out for him. A lot of people have said he can cause a lot of damage with just one touch of his hand."
"Do you think he is like Shigaraki?"
"He could be, but Shigaraki is more of you're decaying away slowly. Overhaul just causes great amount of pain."
"Wonder what his quirk could be. Also, wonder what he is doing. There has to be a motive for him to do what he is doing."
"No one knows what he wants to gain out of this."
"Maybe to be the better villain. To be like All For One."
"To be like All For One, you'd need the quirks of everyone. Including civilians, heroes, and villains alike."
"That is true."
"This day has been going on by slowly though. I just hope nothing happens while we're resting for the night."
"Yeah," I said.
"That would be a shame if we were asleep and the others got to see some action before we did," Deku joked.
I nodded my head and chuckled, "I swear if you see anything before I do, I'm going to beat your ass with a light paddle."
"Please don't," he chuckled.
"I won't. I promise."
As we were talking, we didn't realize the mass of people that was running down the road. I looked at them and so did Deku.
"What do you think is going on?"
"I don't know. We better go find out."
I headed inside real quick to pay. I ran out and helped someone who had fallen.
"Are you alright, ma'am?"
She nodded her head.
"What is going on?"
I looked up and saw there was a group of villains walking down the road. I looked closely and saw a bird mask.
"Overhaul," was the only thing the woman managed to say.
