Chapter 31

"We found them!" Endeavor yelled as he opened up my door. I was still on the balcony, but I had the screen door open. I jumped and looked behind me to see Endeavor, Todoroki, Momo, and Deku.

"You did?" I asked as I ran inside. I closed the door and locked it.

"Yes. Apparently they were hiding underneath the mansion," Todoroki said.

"There was an underground place?" I asked.

"Yes," Endeavor confirmed.

"What are we waiting for?" I asked.

I grabbed my hero outfit and quickly put it on. I grabbed my goggles and we made our way to the train station. I was leading them as we walked towards my mother's mansion. When we got there, the security seemed to be better than it normally was.

"Do you think they were expecting us?" I asked.

"Since they have strengthened their security, yes," Deku said.

"How are we going to get in?" I asked and looked at their security. There were drones with lights and they were covering a lot of ground. There were security cameras on the gates and walls. There were even guards patrolling the grounds.

"They really don't want us in there," Momo said.

"Momo, do you think you and Todoroki can take out the drones and the cameras on the walls?" I asked.

"Sure thing," they both said and got to it.

"Deku, you're going to have to take out the guards. Remember, stealth mode."

"Got it," Deku said and jumped over the wall.

"I guess we might as well wait here until they're done," I said to Endeavor.

He nodded his head, "To think your mother was working with the league."

"Did you inform anyone?" I asked.

"If something bad happens down there, we might need to call back up. Most of the pros are on standby. A few trusted police officers are on standby as well."

I nodded my head. Deku came back before Momo and Todoroki did. They were right behind him. We made our way past the gates and headed inside. We got in there and ran around the mansion.

"How are we going to get down there?" Momo asked.

"I remembered something in my mother's office when I went to visit her," I said and ran towards her office. We arrived and she wasn't there. We looked around the office a bit. I walked behind her desk and examined her bookshelf. They were all facing the same way except this one book. I was about to reach for it.

"Sunlight, duck!" Momo yelled.

I ducked and a piece of glass hit the spot where my hand was. I looked up and saw the man, my step-father, was there. He had thrown the glass. Where did he get it from? A piece of glass emerged from his hand and he held it.

"You don't want to do this, Y/N. Think about what your mother would say."

"To hell with my mother!" I yelled. "She didn't like the fact that Overhaul is reformed."

He shrugged his shoulders, "She has a point when it comes to your safety."

"I can handle him. Get down there!" Momo yelled as she pulled a staff from her arm.

"Are you sure you can handle him?" I asked.

"Yes. Go!"

I pulled the book and the bookshelf moved backwards and then to the side. There was a long dark hallway that looked like that went down forever.

"Let's go!" I yelled and ran down it. Deku, Endeavor, and Todoroki followed me. Once we were in, the bookshelf closed behind us. Todoroki held a flame in his hand while Endeavor was emitting light from his entire body. We came to the end of the staircase and there was a long hallway. We walked down it and saw there was light coming from the end. As we got closer, we began hearing voices.

"What are we going to do with him?"

"He has reached his limit."

"Yes, he has, but we need to make him pay. I'm not satisfied with what we had done to him."

"It's your call what we do to him."

"Tell Dabi to take it to the next level. After that, I am stepping in."

"Understood."

"What do we do, Sunlight?" Todoroki asked.

I thought for a moment. Even Deku was trying to think of something. We watched as one of the shadows came towards us. Todoroki extinguished the flame and Endeavor did the same. We hid in the shadows and continued to watch one of the league members walk down the hallway. They opened a door and closed it. A few minutes went by and there was a loud scream. The door opened up and the league member walked back towards the light. We headed over to where the door was.

"Endeavor and Todoroki, you're on look out," I said.

They nodded their heads and I motioned Deku to come with me. I opened the door and saw Overhaul was sitting against the wall. He looked up and squinted at me. Since it was so dark in there, I couldn't show him it was me.

"Endeavor, give me some light over here," I said.

He stood next to me and lit a small flame in his hands. I took the light that was emanating from it and focused. Ever since I was working with Overhaul, I did my best to redefine my quirk. I didn't want to make weapons from my the light I took. I also wanted to create hope in the eyes of the victims. I opened my eyes and a small bird came from the very little light I had. It flapped around Overhaul and then it came back over to me. The bird landed in my hand as I walked up to Overhaul.

"Sunlight?" he whispered.

"I'm here, Overhaul," I said as I knelt down in front of him. He smiled at me and I smiled back. Deku helped him up and we were about to leave.

"You're not going anywhere," Dabi said.

We turned around to see Dabi, Twice, Toga, and Shigaraki.

"Don't let him escape," Shigaraki said.

"Now!" I yelled.

Todoroki and Endeavor sent in flames as Deku grabbed me and Overhaul. He jumped into the ceiling and worked his way to where Todoroki and Endeavor were standing. We jumped from the ceiling and ran towards the stairs.

"Kurogiri!" Shigaraki yelled.

"Let's go guys!" I yelled to Endeavor and Todoroki.

They stopped and ran. We made it to the stairs and we opened up the bookshelf. We found Momo had stopped my step-father. We met up with her and ran towards the exit. We were about to reach the door, but my mother was standing in front of us. We stopped and all of us huddled around Overhaul.

"Good to see you, Sunlight," my mother said.
