A couple of days passed and we still had no results on how Overhaul did. I was starting to get a bit worried that the police officers weren't impressed with his change. It was early in the morning and Overhaul was sitting at the kitchen table. There was a glass of water beside him as he slept on the table. I walked over to him and saw he was hardly breathing. I looked over at the glass and took a sip of it. I coughed, knowing what it was. I moved Overhaul over to see he had vomited.
"Chisaki!" I yelled.
Even though he was probably black out drunk right now, he couldn't hear me. I pulled out my phone and called the police officers first. I told them the situation and they allowed me to take off the anklet. Once I was finished, I called the ambulance. They were going to be here in a few minutes. I called Momo to tell her what was going on. She helped calm me down until the ambulance arrived. They knocked on the door and I opened it up. They headed over to where Overhaul was. They got him on the gurney and took him to the hospital. Momo had called Todoroki and Deku. They were there within a few minutes and they all sat with me. Todoroki cleaned up the table and cleaned out the glass. I sat there with them in silence. Everything played in my head.
"Y/N, are you feeling ok?" Deku asked.
"He was fine a few days ago, why did this suddenly happen? And how did he get the alcohol?" I asked.
"He might of taken off the anklet and bought some," Todoroki asked.
"Or his henchmen probably got it for him," Deku said.
"There are some possibilities," Momo said.
"Yeah," I said. "He always felt like he was burdening me. I know he tried his best to become a hero, but I think not getting the results back made him nervous and worried."
My phone went off. I grabbed it and answered. It was the hospital. I hung up once they were done talking. I grabbed my keys and walked towards the door.
"Do you want to see him?" I asked them.
"It's better that you go see him," Momo said.
"Is it ok if we stay here?" Deku asked.
"Yeah. Help yourself to anything," I said and walked out of the room.
I locked the door and headed over to the hospital as quickly as I could. When I got there, I got directions to where he was. I walked down multiple hallways until I came across his room. I walked in to see there were multiple IVs attached to him. One was blood while another one looked like water. I sat down next to him as tears threatened to stream down my face. I looked at him. He looked peaceful.
"Hello there," said the doctor as he walked in.
"Hi," I said and wiped my eyes.
"How are you this morning?"
"I'm alright," I said.
"This probably shocked you when you woke up this morning."
"I thought he had fallen asleep while drinking water."
"What was he drinking?"
"Vodka."
"Vodka? He was on house arrest, correct?"
"Yes."
"He couldn't have gotten vodka while on house arrest. There is no way he could get off of the apartment grounds without alerting the police with the anklet of his."
"I know. I don't know how he had gotten it."
"When he wakes up, he'll have to tell you that."
"What is with the blood?" I asked pointing to the bag full of blood.
He sighed and pointed to his forearms. I looked over and saw there were marks. I tried to swallow the lump that was caught in my throat. I looked down at the ground, trying to avoid the doctor's gaze.
"Thankfully, he has stabilized. He is lucky to have a friend like you look after him."
"Yeah," I said.
"I just wanted to let you know he's doing fine."
"Thank you," I said.
He walked out of the room and closed the door. I finally released the lump and sobbed into my hands.
"Why did you to this, Chisaki?"
There was movement. I looked over and saw his hand was moving towards where I was. His eyes slowly opened up and he looked sadly into my eyes.
"I'm sorry," he croaked out.
"Chisaki, what did you do?"
"I was feeling like I was burdening you. That I am holding you back from becoming one of the greatest heroes out there."
"How did you get the vodka?"
"I took off my anklet and disguised myself before going out."
"And tell me about your wrists."
He looked down at them and tears streamed down his face, "That was a result of it as well. Since I always wear my jacket, I knew you weren't going to see it. So I hid it from you. I hid the fact that I was slowly losing myself."
"Chisaki," I whispered.
"I understand if you don't want to be with me anymore. And to just give me to the police. I know you deserve someone better."
I leaned over to him and cupped his cheeks. I pressed my lips firmly against his. He kissed back and placed a hand on my cheek. I pulled away and looked right into his eyes.
"I wouldn't trade you for anything, Chisaki. You gave me another purpose in my life. You gave me another reason to be a hero. I needed to save you from becoming lost to the world. I needed to save the boy that was hiding inside of you. I needed to save you from becoming a villain for the rest of you life. I needed to give you another chance."
He sadly smiled at me, "Thank you. I can't thank you enough."
"You don't need to."
"I promise I will change. I promise to not let this happen again."
"Good. While I was leaving, I saw someone drop something in my mailbox. I think this is for you," I said and handed him a letter.
He looked confused and opened it up. He pulled out the contents that were inside. It was a letter and a small card. He read through the letter and a wide smile appeared on his face.
"What does it say?" I asked.
He handed me the letter:
"Overhaul,
With proper evaluation with your testing the other day, the police department has decided to give you a hero license as a result of your hard work. You have shown us that a villain can become a hero. Although this wasn't an easy task, but you proved us wrong. For that, here is your hero license. We hope to see the new Overhaul in action when fighting against other villains.
Congrats and welcome to the side of heroes
Hosu Police Department."
I looked up and smiled at him. He was smiling as he held the license in his hands. He handed it to me. I handed him back the letter and I looked at the license. It had all the information on him.
"You're going to stick with Overhaul?" I asked.
"That was the only name I will go with," he said.
"And you're keeping the mask?"
He nodded his head, "A once symbol of a villain now turned into a symbol of a hero."
