"That has never been done before," said the officer.
"There is always a first for everything. Why don't I give it a try?"
They looked at one another. It looked like they needed convincing.
"With a quirk like his, he can disassemble the baddies heroes are fighting. With his reassembly part, he can fix any hero who has lost a limb. Not only that, he can manipulate his surroundings. He can tear apart the ground and make it into a barrier. He just uses his quirk in the wrong way."
One of the officers sighed, "We will let you attempt to reform him. If you believe you can reform him into a hero, we will give you five months. If he shows that he has not changed, we will sentence him to life in prison. While you're reforming him, he will be put on house arrest. He cannot leave the apartment you are currently living at. Well, he can leave your room, but he cannot step foot out of the building unless we come and remove the anklet from him."
I nodded, "Thank you."
"Let us go get him."
We walked back down and stopped at Overhaul's cell. He looked at me once more, but his face didn't light up like it did before.
"Good news, Overhaul," said the officer.
"What is good news these days?"
"You're getting out of here."
"What?" he asked.
"You're getting out. Thanks to a friend of yours."
He looked over at me. Even if I couldn't see it, he was smiling. They unlocked the door and Overhaul got up. They walked him to the entrance of the office. They set up the anklet and handed it to me.
"Activate it once you get to your apartment," the police officer said. "Also, are you sure you can trust him in your apartment?"
"I do," I said and took the anklet from him. We walked out of the police station and towards my apartment.
"I need to repay you for this."
"You can repay me by spending five months on changing your ways."
"Is that how you got me out?" he asked.
I nodded, "You're going to be spending five months on house arrest and learning how to use your quirk for heroes and against villains. My friends and I are going to help you with that. Since our apartment has a large basement, we can use that. Well, it's not a basement. It looks like an empty warehouse. We can train there since it is still considered the apartment property."
"I will do my best," Overhaul said.
"Oh, while the police were distracted, I managed to grab this," I said and pulled out his mask. He looked at it and sighed.
"I should get something better than that."
"You know how every hero sort of has a trademark? All Might was the symbol of peace and was known for saying 'I am here!' Endeavor is known for his hell-flame. I think you having this mask is your trademark. It will no longer be a trademark of evil, but a symbol to everyone that a villain can change into a hero."
He looked at me then at the mask. He nodded his head, "Thank you."
We got back to my apartment and I placed the anklet on his foot. I activated it and I unlocked the contraption that bound his hands. I gave him his mask and he shook his head.
"Not now. Maybe later. Since you have done a lot for me, I might as well show you what is underneath this mask."
"Are you sure? I know you're uncomfortable with showing people."
He moved his hand towards the mask and pulled it down to where it was underneath his chin. There was a scar that ran just a little bit underneath his nose and it ran down to his chin.
"How did that happen?"
"My father. I told you he would beat me as soon as I got older. One of his beatings was that he took a knife and ran it down over my mouth. It hurt like hell, but I tried to put my skin back together, but I was still learning how to use it. I ended up disassembling my mouth and I had to quickly reassemble it. While I was reassembling it, I reassembled the cut and it ended up scaring over." He ran his hand across the scar and he looked at it. "I'm such a monster, Sun-Destroyer."
I reached over and grabbed his hand. His quirk didn't activate. I put my other hand on top of his.
"Overhaul, you're not a monster. You were just a boy who suffered from the hands of his father. If your father treated you better, you could of been a hero. That is what I am here for. I will lead you astray from the wrong path and start on the right one."
"Are you sure this is going to work?" he asked.
"It's all about mentality," I said and poked at his head. "You just need to think like a hero."
"How do heroes think?"
"Do you think you can start training now?" I asked.
"Rather earlier than never," he said.
"Good. Let's go."
We walked out of my apartment and I walked over to where Momo was. I knocked on her door and she opened it up. As soon as she saw Overhaul, she created a knife.
"Y/N, get away from him."
Overhaul, without thinking, reached out towards Momo. I grabbed his wrist and looked at him.
"She's going to help."
"Sorry. It was a habit."
"We're going to break that habit."
"Momo, we need your help."
"Why are you helping him?"
"If I don't help him, I could lose him forever."
"Have you lost your mind?" she asked.
"I may have, but there is no doubt that a hero needs to save someone. Overhaul is in need of saving."
"From what?"
"Don't look at him as a villain. Look at him as a victim. He fell victim to an abusive background because of his father. Which in turn, led him down this path of being a villain. If he was taken care of as a child, he could of turned into a hero. I need your help changing him."
Momo slowly nodded her head, "Alright."
